Singleplayer runs jerkily on my beast of a rig

The problem is that while, after installing the new patch, my multiplayer runs smooth, like a baby's rear end, with all graphics options set to top level, when i play the single player, even with all graphics options turned right down, it runs jerkily with a really pathetic framerate. U may think, well its because of all the AI calculations being made, but the thing is when i first bought the game, the single player rocked and ran great. Whats going on?

.P.S. this has probably been said before, but im new here so ill say it anyway, why did EA release such a buggy game, damnit?!

ermmm, Pentium 4 3400+, Radeon X800 XT, 160 GB harddrive, Xear3D audio, DirectX 9.0 are those the ones u need? I know the system runs the game no sweat, cos it did when i first got it, its just recently its become slow

Check for spyware/adware, and viruses. Defrag your HD and make sure nothing's running in the background when you're playing. That's all I can think of. Generally people have problems in MP rather than SP.

How much RAM do you have? Dude thats not a beast of a rig, its good, but not a beast-

Lol, yeah try scanning for spyware. Dont say your rig is a beast on other forums tho, you will just get flamed and you wont get answers!

I've read in the forum about cleanning game's cache, updating PB and a few other things... that had helped the guy. Do a search for details.

Thanks for the Flowers!!!! I've mentioned before i build gaming rigs localy for Best Buy and Circuit City, When they can't help a customer i get a referal. Any hoo I slapped this one together at the week end, I am waiting on to 36gb raptors I may switch the Mobo to MSI. I had a week of screwing with a FaTaLiTy AN8 SLi and windows install. I did get to run the SLi yesterday with BF2 my only issue is heat. I use a Thermaltake armor case and 120mm fans but I think the 7800s may need some more air.

I put a really neat Gatewatch fan controller on this build i will post some pics in the next couple of days.


I hope with the Issues I run int ot help guys out here when it happens :)

ok wow, thanks alot everyone, ill try all of the things u suggested and hope it works, hehe my pc is around a year old now, i guess i just got used to calling it a beast - but seeing the specs on some of those posted here, wow! NASA would be proud!! lol thanks again for the help

hey thanks all for ur responses, I defragmented my harddrive and made sure that no other programs, like all the ones that run on the taskbar that u forget are going, were closed and the multiplayer framerate has improved as has the single payers, though its still jerky in places so im still working on it, ill post back when/if i figure it out

Do you run AV and firewall software in the background? I run norton internet security and found that I get about a solid average 15fps increase when I disable it before playing.
