I'll probably get yelled at but how do you repair a BH in flight?

I know some guys exploit certain parts of the game like piling up a BH with medics and engineers to keep it going all game but I honestly would like to know how to do it for legitimate reasons. I often times find myself on a BH as engineer and would like to repair the thing if I can. I just don't know how. I sat in one of the none gunner/pilot seats tonight and broke out the wrench after we took a hit. It did absolutely nothing.

So how do I repair the thing in flight? Thanks, and please don't yell. You can look up my stats, I don't have huge numbers, and I don't cheat. I think it's a legitimate question as long as it's not abused.

In flight repairs only take place if your the gunner.

You need an engineer or more in the back of the BH with their wrenches. They simply point their wrench HUD icon at the BH roof/floor and they can repair away most damage done. When not doing this they often drop mines around enemy bases, flags etc.

You can't repair a BH as engineer in the pilots seat or as a gunner.

I think seats 4 and 5 can repair the best. Some seats don't let you. This is either on purpose or a bug.

I've never had a problem repairing from any of the rear seats, just aim the wrench icon correctly.

I think that Dice will probably take this in air repair feature out in the next patch.

I can never repair the damn BH with the engi so i go either support or medic or use it for what there supposed to be used for transport. :)

1. Be engineer ()
2. Sit in F4 - F6
3. Select the wrench
4. Point at floor/roof and hold down left mouse button

Sometimes it doesn't work and you need to giggle your mouse about, and sometimes the animation itself doesn't work. Just watch the repair meter and you'll see it's actually working anyway.

For some strange reason it doesn't always let you repair or it repairs but doesn't make the repairing sound. It's best to look at the helicopter damage bar to see if it's doing anything, if not switch seats.

By the time you master it, the patch will come out and it'll be a thing of the past :)

Not necessarily, one says no repairing in-flight, the other says you can repair in-flight, it's just slower. I'm more inclinded to believe the latter.

what he said, you can't repair as pilot or minigun operator, you have to be able to select the wrench, if you do, then just point it at anything on the helo, and click away
