Question about creating a new account

Alright, are accounts based on cd keys?

I also want to make sure I don't delete my current account if I create another one. If I were to create another account will it override my current one?

The reason I ask this is because I'm going to let someone borrow my bf2 cd for a night, so he will be using my cd key for the night. Will this mean he can choose between my current account and the one I create for him?

I haven't gotten a good amount of sleep in a long while so if this post sounds completely noobish and could be answered with common sense I apologize :p

EA is a bit screwy and I read that one thread about that other guy that accidently deleted his account so I want to make sure.

    Thanks in advance.

If you do this, The EA Police will surely come for you. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Re: Question about creating a new account

Ok, so why wouldn't you guys recommend doing this? I mean...what is bad about it? If I let him borrow my cd and install it on another computer...I'm guessing he'd be using my cd key so I would not be able to play for a night. I am confused. I mean if I'm not allowed to do this I won't, it is just that...if I create another account for my cd key...what is wrong with someone else using it for a night instead of me?

I'm not like making an account for him so he can play all the time.

Alright let me disect the situation better so you guys can understand. I will be gone for the night taking my computer to a LAN party to play CS, but my brother will be having a friend come over to play with him. My brother has his own Battlefield 2 CD he was wondering if he could borrow mine for his friend so they can both play it together. My brother has his older computer in his room where his friend usually plays other games with him. So if I let them use my Battlefield 2 CD for that computer...he'd have to use my account because of my CD key right? Well can I create another account on mine so he can play his own for the night that will not override my original one?

I hope that didn't make it more confusing :hmm:

The way gamespy works sometimes, one cd key per computer, if you install it the game on another computer with the same cd key, well theres a good chance you won't be able to connect with the cd key on your computer.

Yeah I know...I won't be playing BF2 at the same time, I'm still wondering what will happen though.

(I don't go through gamespy anymore)

I would think it would be "ok", but there are those that will say otherwise.
My reasoning for this: I know the whole 1 comp at time... but it is being played on only one comp.

It doesnt sound any different than those here who have multiple accounts.
While it may not be "completely right" i dont see anything different in this than letting a friend play the game on your computer. It is not as though you asked/planned on copying the disk.

Re: Question about creating a new account

                    1) if you are telling the thruth.. it shouldn't matter. Make sure he creates his own user and plays with that account. The cd key doesn't go off of your pc but your account. Like you said you won't be online playing it so there should be no problem. Now here's the thing that will go with my "2)". He will now have bf2 on his pc.. all he needs is the no cd patch and there ya go.. pirated software using your second account created by you.

                    2) you are a lieing sack of monkey crap trying to find a way to pirate the game.

Best thing would be to say "NO! Go get your own copy you hobo!" Cause once you are gone and say your brother leaves the room to get something.. he logs out and changes your pw. All your stuff gone and he has the game.

                    Hope that helps

There will be no problems. I have installed one copy on two machines using the same CD key and had no problems playing on either (it is even possible to play on both at same time but i prob shouldn't say that), and you can create as many accounts as you want without effecting existing accounts... If he installs it on his comp he wont have access to your accounts, he can just make his own...

...and yes he could then crack the game but it will probably corrupt the game, and **** you off because he will be using your CD-key so don't let him!

the no cd\dvd cracks do work. They make the game load faster as well.

I say no. I have had trouble with it before, trying to let my brother play off of my CD key. Truth is, if your friend is playing, then you can't be playing at the same time as him, and vice versa. It quickly gets annoying.

That's actually why my brother and I had to get a second copy of BF2.
