The thing with the infantry maps is, first you will need a lot more time to make them. why?

since there won't be any planes, or tanks, or other vehicles, it will be close combat, therefore when you are making the map, you have to be extra careful, especially if its a city.

Also, let's assume you did all that, you will need again a lot of people to play the map, you need the potential. The reason most people include vehiceles, or planes, or choppers in their map is because they want people to have fun even though there aren't enough players. At the moment, there aren't many people playing custom maps. I usually check servers with game-monitor.com 3-4 times a day, and the maximum amount of people who were playing a custom map that i have ever seen was 12. You need at least 25-30 people to have fun in infantry maps. That's just something hard. You can't force people to play your map, and there is this thing going on with ranks. Everybody is keep asking about making custom maps available on ranked servers. 90% of people playing this game still cares about the rank, they play it for the rank not for the fun.

so, infantry maps, like many other things, will take time. You can make a nice, professional map in 2-3 weeks. But who is gonna play it? How can you make 25-30 people play it at the same time? You can't. The game itself was released 3 months ago, the mod tools were released a month ago, its just too new.

I promise, once people are bored with the stats and ranks, things will start changing.

lol...I got bord with ranks in about 10 minutes! I like to play for fun....when you are doing that ranking bs, it turns into work....something I do enough of as it is :)

I myself don't really care to much about Stats. Lately ive found myself working on maps I have in concept then gaming. The problem for me is going to be finding a good host thats affordable for 16-64 players depending o nthe maps I build.

Soon to Debut my first "Infantry" Map, but it will be closed to only Carbonfive, until I find my own personal host.

The OS|Clan has already made an infantry only map and it ROCKS. It's called OS|Gorge and is right now in beta test mode. It is running constantly on the Aliens clan server with the ip of 217.31.187.33 port 16567. It is available for download from our site: www.osclan-uk.com. Go to the left hand side under multimedia and you will find the download. Remember, you have to set your textures and terrain to at least medium for custom maps. The map is basically a gorge in the woods with bridges across the chasm to a plateau flag in the center. There is also a flag in the gorge itself. Small, tight and actionpacked....you can walk right over an enemy in the ferns without even seeing him. If many people would like to meet, we can bring 10-20 guys for a real nice forest battle.
