I have just been wondering this for a while, when will I not gain points for a round? I know if i leave in the middle of the round then I wont get the points, but what if i get 50 points the first round but leave the second round will I still gain the 50 points for the first round?

I've heard many different takes on how/when points are recorded, but as I understand it you get points if you play at least 5 minutes of the round. If the server crashes before the round ends, however, you will not get points, even if you left before the server crashed.

At least that's what I think.

Main reason I ask is beacsue BF2 crashed one time and I had alot of points, I was mad but when I re-booted, It still gave me my points. So let me get this right, if I play on a server for 5 min. and then decide to leave I still get my points for that round? Also, one time I got alot of points and I was so happy I was getting all these points and it was the last round and I played all three rounds and I got kicked for accedental TKs on the last round and it gave me no points for any of the three rounds even thought it was the last round, anyone know of this being the case?

Well if im remembering correctley, I read a interview with a Developer of BF2, and they said when the match ends a "snapshot" is taken and sent to where ever to be recorded. So to answer your question, I think you have to be on at the end of the match. But if im wrong, let me know.

So what happens if, God forbid, the main computers lose your stats? Do you have to start all over again or are they also recorded within your personal version?

Well i've had a lost connection to server, ended up rejoining and had all the points i had before it disconnected me in game. Kinda odd leaving a game with 60 points and come back and still have your 60 points.

If you are playing on a ranked server you get points no matter when you leave.

hmm i always get my points..sometimes its just takes longer time..especially when you abort a mission..

To clear this up.

If you are on a server for five minutes or more then your details will be updated to your profile. The srever takes a 'snapshot' of all the details about the game at the end and sends it to the stat processing servers. If YOUR game crashes (meaning the fault was at YOUR end) then the stats will still get updated. ONLY when the server itself that is hosting the game crashes does your details not get updated, or but very rarely the snapshot doesn't make it to the stat servers.

The reason you can jump back on a server and retain your score in that round if your are kicked is because the server still has you details logged for that round, untill it is finished

If u play on a ranked server for more than 5 minutes in one round, the points are added to your account when the round ends. So after a new round starts, you don't have to worry about the point's you earned in previous rounds.

If your game chrashes, you can try to join the same server and you'll find you still have your points when you join. If you don't join, you'll still get your points if you played over 5 mins before the game chrashed

If u get kicked u still get to keep your points (if you had played over 5 minutse before you were kicked) but if you get kicked for TK, the TK penalties are of course deducted from the score before adding it to your account.

If the server chrashes in the middle of a round (before taking the 'snapshot' of the scores and sending it to EA's stats servers) you will lose the points of that round. The points of each round before that are safe though, bcoz they were sent to EA in the end of each round respectively.

I've read so many conflicting stories on this, I don't know which to believe...

Some people say that if you log on a server and exit, it continues to track your data and record the outcome at the conclusion...but if that's the case...then what prevents a player from logging on to a game, exiting, logging on to another and exiting...and on and on...wouldn't this build up this players wins (or equally, losses) as they would be registered on many servers but not playing on them.

As far as points...I know it updates during the game...because I have escaped to the main menu, went to BFHQ, checked my points...and then exited back into the game...(be advised though, sometimes it takes longer for updates to get registered)

Wish there was some clear guidance on this...but then again, if there was...peeps would prolly exploit it...somehow...someway...

Cant be, At the end of each round they only list the players (depending on player max) that were in the server when it ended and there are never more than the server max at the end.
