BF2 won't work. Please help me!

This is my first post here guys, and I am looking forward to being a member of the totalbf2 community. I have a problem with the game. I have version 1.0 installed and the 64 single player mod installed. The game starts up ok, but when I want to start a single player game, it says "starting game server", and that is all it says. It does not help me if I install 1.2 patch. What could be the problem. My specs are

AMD Athlon 64 2800+ OC'ED to 2024
ECS 755 A-2
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT (550/620)
Geil Value DDR400 (512)
2x WD Caviar 40gb.

Unistall all
Reinstall BF2
Install the patch 1.02
do NOT install the 64 player mod, instead go on multi

the 64 mod might be the problem
