Usually once every couple of hours the game will freeze and say "there is a problem with your connection" and then after a few seconds I get disconnected. 9 times out of 10 I can connect back to the server right away and it will have remembered my score and everything...but what gives? Is this a bug in the game or do I need to look into fixing my machine?

Does the game physically lockup? if not then it may just be a sucky internet connection.
Do you run any other internet aplications whilst playing Battlefield 2?
IRC? messenger programs? p2p apps? -

I don't think so...it boots me back to the server browser and I just rejoin. I usually turn off all other internet options when playing. Besides this problem, my internet connection is flawless...15-30 ping on some servers, no signs of packetloss.Comment

exact thing happens to me as well...i still play a lot of q3 online and nothing like that ever happens so I think its more to do with BF2...though why i have no idea.Comment

I get the same thing. Nothing is running in the background except Xifre and ventrillo. Once in a while when that happens i either lose my connection to the server or the server has crashed.Comment

It use to happen to me alot but 3 days ago I took a deep look at my router settings and it had a cloned mac address manually put it in the advance setup, I remember putting this a year back and never took it out, I changed the value to all zero since optonline doesnt require this and so far no disconnection and I can play for hours..Comment
