I've tried your fix and BF2 actually let me create a new account with the same name as my old one ("peekj") but all the stats were at 0.

I had just made it to Corporal the night prior. In fact, my stats signature still shows the stats I lost (which makes me hope that EA can restore them if they would just answer me!!)

Here's what EA Tech Support had to say on the issue:

        Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your incident. Unfortunately, support staff I'm afraid, can not alter or modify stats, ranks, kits and badges for Battlefield 2. The collection of this data is very complex, and as you can imagine with the popularity of Battlefield 2 an immense undertaking. There is simply no way we can adjust every players score, though we would love to. We do however, review every claim and report so that we can identify any potential issues.

Please accept our apology for any troubles or errors you may experience from time to time.

        Thank you for writing us,

I think they're avoiding the issue completely, what do you think?

I think the've just told you they can't fix it.

The reason why your sig still shows stats is probably because stat sigs don't all update automatically, they do every few days or so.

I think they didn't bother reading it properly & just sent you a standard reply, they mention nothing to do with your problem, i.e. a deleted account, they think you want an account altered. I doubt they keep reliable backups of them.

yeah, that was a standard cut & paste response to someone e-mailing them and saying "I losy my yadda yadda ribbon" blah blah blah.

unfortunately, I think you are SOL.

So I guess you can play though, but under a different account?
