Just a few minutes ago I was playing a round and when I spawned in after being killed, my graphics looked horrible. It was as if I elected to turn AA off. It's happened maybe three times since I owned BF2. I can exit the game and start backup and all is well. Anyone know what could cause this?

Does your screen go black right before this happens? Does it ONLY happen after you respawn, or can it just happen at any time?
Might want to update your drivers, if you haven't already. If you've updated in the past, make sure you did it right (uninstall first, then install new). Try rolling the drivers back. There's always the option of using an unofficial driver build.
Could be overheat trouble, too, besides drivers.Comment

Hmm I've had that problem before too, but I thought it was just me picturing it not it actually happening. Guess it was. Im using the 78.01s now and it hasn't happened since I upgraded from the 77.77s.Comment

Neat,
No going black or anything of that nature. I just spawn and BOOM - looks crappy.
When I upgraded to 77.77 the day they released, it was preceded with an uninstall of the old ones, reboot, then install the new.
No way it's overheating. I'm running a copper Zalman gpu cooler with AS5. My load temps never exceed 64C

Thank you for chiming in. As you can see above, I'm running 77.77 and that's the first time I noticed it happening but never put them together. This card is still a little new to me so I'm not sure what driver versions will work best for me. I'll try the latest and see what happens.

Yeah, it sounds like a driver issue. I'd say reinstall your latest build (just to be sure) and if it does it again, roll back to an earlier version of the driver.
But since the latest build is usualy better than old one (more options, etc...) you might try like I said, and find an unofficial build based off the latest "official" build wherein this issue may be fixed. That's what I did to fix my graphics trouble, while still keeping up to date.Comment

AA Smoothes edges aroud everything within the game, turning it on brings a huge lift in eye candy, but affects peformance. AA on 2x or 4x makes the game seriously nice.Comment

Something interesting just happened. I wanted to be sure I wasn't incorrect about heat so I had the temp monitor up in the backgound so I could ALT+TAB to it. So I'm playing and after a while the graphics are suddenly bad and this time it wasn't after spawning. So I ALT+TAB to the temp and it's a cool 63C. I quickly jump back as the game is ending and all the graphics look good again.
I'm going to ALT+TAB next time it happens again to see if that corrects it.Comment
