Crash to Desktop with New DVI Cable

If anyone could shed some light on this issue...it would very much be appreciated.

I have had no problems running BF2 at all over the past couple of months. However, I recently decided to purchase a DVI cable to go with my Samsung 930B monitor because I had heard it is a significant improvement.

As it turns out.... I am unable to load BF2 while the DVI cable is connected. The BF2 graphic appears and the screen goes black for a few seconds before crashing back to the desktop. When I reconnect the monitor with the older analog cable, it works perfectly.

So my questions are...does anyone have an idea on how a simple upgrade such as a cable would have this sort of effect, and what steps can I take to be able to use the DVI cable?

    Basic System Specs:
    AMD Athlon 3500+
    1 gig RAM
    Chaintech VMF4 MB
GeForce 6600xt Video Card with newest drivers
    SB Audigy 2 Sound Card

    Thank you in advance,

I take it you are using the same monitor but different cables here and that the DVI cable specifically is causing the crashes?

nothing else is being changed at all?

Yes, I actually just figured it out. I had the refresh rate BF2 setting up higher than my monitor and DVI cable could handle. I turned it down and it works fine now. Thank you anyway.
