Aim for the gunners first, it's fairly easy to take them out at a distance

Essentially it comes down to the point of a guy with some cover, sat on a light car, with a reasonable gun; against a guy with more cover, sat in a heavy chopper, with an insane gun.

I can only ever pull this off if:
a) I have a friend, and there are two vodniks that we can jump in at the same time. In this case one of us usually dies anyway.

b)The chopper crew (mostly depends on the pilot) are crap.

The only effective way I've found so far of countering them is either using attack helos (not on all maps), stingers (too few on some maps), tanks (more often than not it's been robbed) or AT (needs a few of you, which is difficult as it's not a popular class).

It's by no means impossible, I know , and I'm not trying to have a moan. It's just when there is a really, really co-ordinated squad I find it hard to stop them dominating the map (I usually play in a squad of 3, so I'm not asking to be able to do it everytime as 1 man or anything).

I also like to stake out the power grid flag with c4 on top of flag pole does do the job quite well.

People who still complain about the BH now just don't know how to shoot it down, even a good BH squad can be shot down pretty quickly.

I joined a game where someone did something similar. He took off with 2 people, went off for a while, came back and picked up a couple people and then purposefully crashed, laughing about it. Of course, he was autobooted by punishes, and the game coninued normally.

Two vodniks or the tank could do it on their own. AT guys or assault also do a great deal of damage. All it takes is actual TEAMWORK. :shock: I know it's a foreign word to most BF2 players, but it works.

Simple solution, reduce the damage or ROF from the miniguns, and give the MEC chopper the same miniguns and aerodynamics as the Blackhawk.

All the solutions posted require clan level coordination and teamwork that doesnt happen in pub servers.

Please explain to me how you can say that only reason BH's own in Mashtuur is because of good coordination in a black hawk squad.

The ONLY thing required is to make sure your squad does well is have one kit of everything and two engineers.

WOW, that must have been really hard to talk on VOIP for 3 whole seconds to find out what specific kit you should spawn as while waiting for the blakchawk to reappear on the helo pad.

It must be so hard to then look for and press the enter vehicle key to be able to sit in the BH and proceed to play with yourself.

Yes, its very hard to tape down the grenade button on my keyboard and go have a snack, all the while racking up huge amounts of resupply points because everyone else is doing the same while the two engineers fix all the accumulated damage.

Yes, it very easy to defend flags against blackhawks becuase there are no morons on MEC that drive off with your strategically placed vodniks, or fire their AT kits before the BH settles into a nice hover, thus missing it entirely and revealling you position to unevitable mini gun death before you can get off a good shot.

Anyone familiar with the Vietnam war knew that the VC didnt fire off a shot until the helos were hovering over the LZ right inforn tof their noses. You'd think people would figure the advantages of this through common sense alone.

But they don't, because pub servers are FULL of MORONS.


Unfortunately, most of us who really enjoy the game do not have the time to commit to clans and tourneys.

I get asked to join clans, and I would love to play with a squad of consistent operators, but real life commitments do not allow this for me. I believe this is true for most people who purchased the game.

This means you have to look at map-balance from a pub server perspective to keep things balanced for the overwhelming majority of players who do not play in clans.

You can't call a map balanced when one side requires much more skill, coordination and planning to deal with the opposing army's air asset that in itself racks up huge amounts of points for little requirement in skill coordination and planning.

You're no better than those who drove the air craft carriers off the map in BF1942. I rarley get into a black hawk but now I'm starting to think I'm the only person in this game man enough to say I want to keep something in the game or remove something even if it would help the scores of others more than mine.

And you didn't make the game fair by taking the black hawk, now the MEC has a helicopter and the USMC doesn't. That's not fair either.

Tough one, could be deserving payback and forces some players to figure out what Tha map looks like on the ground. It also forces a genuine game meaning w/o the BH exploit, the US would have to win with skill.

The one BIG problem is you were on their team which gets real close to TK'ing in it's spirit. As a genuine tactic if you had made your way to the pad as MEC and grab one on it's respawn then all's fair.

I could see myself resorting to that tactic if it was a non-side-switching server/ map after each round and the US guys were just out of whack as a team/ talent - rapefest.

A very tough call overall but I'd feel better stealing it as MEC.

In general, there is no TEAMwork, outside of clan matches, etc. But if you are lucky you can find SQUADwork.

If you didn't have people on your team ruining it for everyone else, you might not have someone hop in your jeep and drive off while you are busy spraying the machinegun. ARGH!

Maybe your squad can go capture the blackhawk spawn flag. If there isn't already 2+ squads BH camping there already, you might be fortunate enough to kill everyone and hold it.

Even having more than 1 AT kit in your squad doesn't mean much. For example, today I was actually flying the blackhawk. Now, rarely do I get in the thing on such maps because it can get boring fast. But anyway... I was toting my squad around and quite easily dodging streams of AT rockets. Within a few seconds, I had like 6 rockets pass my windshield but only one connected. Of course the engineers onboard fixed that up quick. If you aren't hovering over a flag, it's pretty damn hard to hit the BH with rockets. In the next patch things will change for sure. But some already predicted even worse scenarios. And I saw this happen this week. A Blackhawk that didn't bother risking themselves on a flag cap; they just kept circling at distance and pwning everyone on the ground over and over.

So you are left with getting lucky enough to have gunners available in jeeps, taking and never giving up the BH spawn flag, or maybe you can wait and get some stingers off from the MEC chopper spawn.

I don't know how much they are nerfing the guns, but the onboard repair change alone should help a lot. I don't think they need to nerf the miniguns too harshly, because all the guns are damn weak in this game, and they are already nerfing repairs.

And to everyone who is "point whoring" in blackhawks and ending maps in 5 minutes... wtf? If you are looking for points, you don't end the map so soon! Keep zipping back between 2 flags and retake them. But don't outright defeat them.

Tired of being blackhawk raped every round I joined the US side at the beginning of a new round and was first to the blackhawk. I took off with only two passengers and all the other engineer losers who were raping for the last few rounds started screaming for me to come back and pick them all up. They even started a few vote kicks and were throwing out every insult they could. They are so happy to BH rape that when you take it away they don’t even want to play the map.

Anyways I took it off the screen and landed it before I died from "Leaving the battlefield". There it sat for an entire round. Now finally we could play the map for more than 5 min. and have a real game.

You're an idiot. If people want to waste their time in a BH you have no right to deny them that.

The BH can easily be shot down by a tank, or a coordinated attack. I've shot it down with a vodnik as well as a hummer. I've seen it taken down on Mash with C4 placed close to the flag.

That is because some complete idiot waste of life pimple popping teenager always gets in and drives away despite the incredibly loud machine gun sounds coming from the gun on top pointed directly at the chopper flying 50 feet away!

No kidding. I had that happen to me the other day. I was set up in a good spot kind of hiding from the BH, laying in wait. As soon as the BH appeared and right before I opened up some idiot jumped in my vodnik and took off. I was livid. Downing a fully loaded BH with a vodnik is sweeeeeeet. It doesn't always work, but it's fun trying.

has anyone tried planting c4 on blackhawk as umsc and then switching to mec to pick up your own kit and then blowing up the blackhawk? i tried to put the c4 on the blackahwk but they tked me becasue they thought i was gogin to kill them...

That makes no sense. When you suicide and switch teams how can your kit and your previously planted explosives be available.

The .50 on the Vodnik has a decent range so you can take out a chopper before they know where the bullets are coming from.

If it has a decent pilot then they will probably fly off then circle round and kick your ass but most of the time they just try to find you whilst still hovering and you can nearly always kill them or at least get them smoking.

If you can get in quite close too that sometimes works, because the miniguns can't angle down far ebough, but the .50 can angle up enough to hit them. The pilot can't see you so it's pretty effective, the trick is getting there in the first place without getting spotted, but this is not too difficult in Mashtur because there are lots of alleyways. A good commander on the other team is more effective than a good a pilot... "Enemy APC spotted" on the radar is enough for the chopper pilot to get his gunners into range and make you toast, but again I've found this rare.

There are so many ways to overcome problems in the game, the one problem that can't be fixed however is the rest of your team and your commander. If they are crap then there's not much hope - everything you try and do just gets hindered by your own and you end up banging heads!

I played a game yesterday where I was outside a building picking off the guys inside (Dalian plant I think) and having a good time of it, before my commander artied the place! Useless because they were all under the roof but enough to make me reverse bungee through the air. I could hardly get up and run whilst I was being targetted by the guys inside. Why do commanders do that? Oh look there are lots of red blips I'll drop arty there... My one blue/green blip will run away, no probs. Take a look closer and you'll see they are all INSIDE!! Turns out I was his only kill, point proven.
