The Guide to the Roadside Bomb
------------------------------

Section 1: Reasons to Use a Roadside Bomb
While playing BF2, haven't you wished there was a way to not only
to take out vehicles from a distance, but do it without giving them
any warning at all? Don't you want to deny an area to enemy armor &
personnel, allowing your team to move freely in that area, and
forcing the enemy into another area? Don't ya?!?
You can do all that and more with some C4 hidden in some grass, in a
bush, on a wall, just about anywhere the enemy won't notice a dark patch
or two.
And they'll never see it coming.
Section 2: Your Enemy and You
To effectively use the roadside bomb, you must understand your enemy.
Remember, they're just like you. They can think, they can recognize,
and most importantly, they can return fire. Your enemy is not stupid.
You must think like the enemy. If you came across a line of black dots
on the road leaving your base, would you run over it?
This is why placement of bombs is so important.
Section 3: Bomb Placement & Other Tips
Chances are this is the only part of the guide you'll want to read, so
I'll get right to it. For effective bomb placement:
-Pick a highly traveled road in a map. I often pick the road leading out
of the main base. Make it close to the source of the vehicles you're
tryng to destroy, but far enough away from the source as to not get spotted
laying and relaying bombs.
-Put the C4 in any of the following at the edge of a road: high grass,
bushes, behind/on top of rocks, behind outcroppings, etc. Be creative!
-Pick a spot on the road, if possible, that gets pinched together:

IN the above case, a vehicle is forced between the telephone pole and the
raised ground. C4 is placed in the grass on either side.
This forces the enemy into range of your hidden bombs.
-If you are going to detonate out of range of the skulls that show up on
your hud, place the C4 near a distingushable object, such as a light pole,
rock, tree, etc, that you can see from a distance:

In the above case, the C4 is behind the light pole and behind the outcropping.
-Try to be in a position to see what vehicles are coming out of the base.
If you see a buggy come out, followed by a tank, wait for the tank, as it
is more valuable to the enemy.
-Remeber to create a squad and request supplies from the commander every
now and then to stay stocked on C4.
-Keep a low profile while waiting for a vehicle. The last thing you want to
be while waiting for a vehicle to come along is dead.
-Since you have 5 C4 sticks, place 3 on the more travelled side of the road.
(Usually the right side.)
-Since you are so near the enemy base, call out(spot) helis, planes, people, and
vehicles that take different routes out of the base.
-If there is a convoy (I know, extremely rare in BF2) coming down the road, detonate
right after the second vehicle passes. Chances are you'll take out 2 vehicles,
and the remainder will take off, destroying the convoy's ability to cap flags.
Section 4: The Do Nots
Do Not:
Lay C4 in a line across the road
Run out right after a succesful bombing, the kill cam will give you away
Stand out in the open
Use a car on the side of the road as your C4 base. These blow up after a set
time, taking your C4 with it.
That's about it. For those of you who want a visual to go along with it, or just don't like
reading, there's a video on it's way.
