my friend being a idiot broke his cd.... i dont know how... he just did... so anyway he wants a cd crack.. is there even one out for bf2?

yea go to blahblah download the no dvd fixed image, download daemon tools 3.4 i beleive, and then moun tthe image with that.. thats what i did, it works great.

I'm not sure if its legal or not but just follow the instructions anyway thats how i use bf2 on my laptop so i can have lan games with my friends at my house so :P

Copying something you already have paid for in the case of broken cd/dvd isn't illegal.

I hate games that make you switch CDs all the time. But games like HL2, CS:S, Guild Wars, and UT2004 dont make you have the cd, which is cool.

It is legal, because im not copyieng anything, its just protecting my cd, and if im not sposed to talk about it on tbf2 forums i didnt know that, My bad. And yes i do have a LEGAL version so i think im ok.

Technially, i think in the EULA (End User Licence Agreement), it says it is illegal. (Copyright Infrigment) Before you assume it is totally illegal or legal, you should check it.

But the EULA lies about all sorts of stuff. That's nothing new. It's the old cover your ass for anything under the sun routine. Courts throw these kinds of agreements out all the time because they cover way to much. They're mainly there to intimidate users. There's a seperate law that scumbag publishers have been trying to change for YEARS that says you have the right to use the product you buy as you see fit (or something like that -I don't remember the specifics) and this comes under that heading.

I've never heard of anyone being sued for not putting up with this copy protection nonsense. The only ones it harms are the legit users. A friend of mine was playing BF2 a week before it was out with his warez copy. Did the "have to have the damn CD inserted" stop him? Not for one second. He can't play on legit servers (which seems like a much more sensible approach to copy protection to me), but he can play on cracked ones.

It's a real pity that the publishers haven't gotten a clue and realized that this only affects legit users.

Ok, the question has been answered and the original poster got what he wanted, don't see any reason to let this turn into a mass argument on the legality of copying game media.
