    Lighting settings

How do you make the sunlight in the map darker? I have quite alot of fog but it seems far to bright at the moment!

I appologise if this has been covered before but I can't find it.

    1. Open the BF2 Editor
    2. Load up your map.
    3. Go into your Tweaker Bar on the left side of the editor and press the + next to Light Settings.
    4. Tweak them..

I wouldn't recommend tweaking the settings if you don't have any experience. Look at the original maps, and whichever one you like, copy their sky.con file (either in client.zip or server.zip) to your map folder.

Its not that hard to tweak them though as you get a preview for most and it shows you what colour your using. Its more of a trial and error type thing and its needed if you want the best look (and effective look) for your map.

Tip: Just write down the default settings and then start tweakin - and can always revert if it screws it up. Like blaze said you learn with trial and error.

There are some custom colors though. And considering 6 digits represent 1 color in C language, even if you screw 1 digit of color, that would mess up everything. The colors you see in the tweaker are default colors, mostly if you use them, they won't look good. The colors they used in bf2 however are custom, and they used them by changing color codes which you can't do in the editor.

There are 6 digits (well 9 but 255 would be converted to FF in hex) in the editor if you havent noticed. You can get any colour from it. When your selecting the colour you have that colourbox where you click on it and you got a colour. Can change how light/dark it is etc... on the right you will see how much RGB there is in it as well... so thats like 16581375 different colours you can have from the editor, its not just red or blue etc. you cant really get any more 'custom' colours from that.

Either i couldn't express myself or you misunderstood me, my point was once you change that custom color, and don't know its value, its impossible to get it back because nobody is a programming expert and don't have the tools for changing color values with hexadecimal digits. There are programs just for that and editor don't have it. What you see in editor is very common and most programs including (i think) microsoft paint.

oh right, i kind of get it now... although I still dont see how your earlier post reflected that.
I suppose you would just have to write down the values each time while tweaking to get it perfect and if you make a mistake you always have the bacup written down so you can manually input the values when you go to the colour picking screen.
