i have both.

although if you look at the g3's stats in bfhq, it says its accuracy is "high" but in-game, it doesn't seem like it. probably because of the ridiculous recoil.

the l85 is weaker than the g3 obviously but if you use the scope+single shot, you're almost always better than the majority wanna-be snipers in the game.

i'd pick the l85 over the g3.


~of course, you can go to game-monitor.com and try both these guns on an unranked server with all weapons unlocked. that'll solve your problem.

hey i only posted this because most other threads turn into big bitches for many reasons.

Thnx for everyones input. I have tried the G3 and LA85 before. LA85 seems so weak. What is the "proper way" to use it???

I like the G3 on semi auto. 20 rounds per clip doesnt seem to be that bad. Just make sure not to miss.

since those are both my unlocks, i figure i can help, i like them both i strongly prefer both of them over any other of the basic guns ive noticed the biggest diffrence with the l85 though so IMO i would pick the l85 plus you get points for shocking people who are "critticaly wounded"

IMO these guns serve almost totally opposite purposes. The G3 with murder anything up close except maybe a nade launcher or a shotgun, does pretty good at medium distances, and starts to lose to the carbines at long range. The L85, like so many others have said, will out-snipe a lot of wannabe snipers at long-range, will still grease carbines at medium-long range, but up close will lose to anything other than maybe an SMG or pistol because of the massive deviation on full-auto. I have the G3 and it's easily my favourite gun in the game, but I do not like facing a medic with the L85 at long range because he has a huge advantage.

i got l85a as my second unlock mainly because i want to play medic on karkand and i don't like the m4 . The gun is ok overall, but it is kinda weak, it sucks at close combat, so don't ever try to tard rush with it. I have tried the g3, i like it. 2 shots = down . it will be my next unlock

i posted a thread about the rate of fire on the L8. i think at long range (greater than 30 feet?), the L8 sucks on full auto and burst. accuracy drops significantly. its great at single fire, but you will need at least 3 excellent hits for a kill. at medium range 10-30 feet and short range (less than 10feet) the weapon is good when bursting. full auto sprays way too much. like others mentioned the scope is a nice feature and at times can out snipe a sniper.

Go G3 if you play City maps alot, but otherwise get the SA80

if you play city maps a lot, dont bother with g3...everyone uses the noob cannon, so you might as well too :P....g3 with an attached gl would RULE!!!

The G3 doesn't allow points for anything else. I have the L85 unlocked and played medic for the first 75 hours of my playing time on this account. My first week or so with the L85 I had difficulty....but after learning how to use it....I became quite adept with it and my K/D ration went from .9 to 1.2. Its a good weapon. I've since moved onto Engineer though.

I did have the G3 unlocked with a different account. Good weapon, just doesn't give you anything extra, like ammo, heals, revives or repairs that other kits do.

M95 rules.... just gotta learn how to use it.
Id take G3... L85 is a BIG mistake for me.
