    Re: Increasing LOD distance???

Auctually editing the video.con file is not a hack, everyones video.con file is different, as everyones settings are differnt. I'm going to test LODdisance, setting it to 2.. so that should be 200%.

Editing the video.con file does not work. I have mapped my LOD to 425 meters. I read that some snipers go to 550 meters. I think it is dependent on how well you video card does with the settings, thought I'm not sure. yet

            Re: Increasing LOD distance???

I have it set to 100%, and everything is practically cranked, and I have the same issue. Once an object, and this becomes very frustrating in Karkland, goes beyond a certain distance, it actually dissapears but I'll see it "appear" when I get closer.

            I hope this gets fixed.

Another weird thing, and this happens once in a while. Try setting your graphics to "high on everything", looks good but runs like crap.Change your settings back to normal, play for 2 weeks...all of a sudden, you get dropped to your "login" screen, restart a map, and BLAM! your system is re-optimizing your video settings, you get in, all the shadows are on and the entire game runs FLAWLESSLY. It happened to both me an a buddy last night.

Restart the game, try with those settings again: Chops (below 2fps) to no end.

            Ideas?

What ever happened with your test?

They removed it due to the fact. That some players would have a huge advantage.

there was no advantage in it, player/vehicle models would still disappear at the same distance as anyone who had their geometry (sp) set on high, the models just looked better at a further distance because they had less poly drop off at the longer ranges.

Yes that is correct 535(i was the one who mentioned that and that) is max range of the fov with a sniper scope, at that point the target starts to flicker as he starts to dissapear. It is possible to snipe past that, but your shooting blind. Oh and I was hitting the guy with an m95 constant, but there is massive bullet drop.

Im going to keep an eye on this thread...

Very interesting! Especialy the thing that bullet drop only "work" when the bullet is out of you vision..

It has been covered...so for the last time there is no bullet drop in bf2. Its just a spray pattern.

                            Here is normal speed.

                            Here is slow motion.

I should know i found it. And it doesnt matter that its not in the game, and it could very well just be a random spray pattern, but the fact is that bullets do drop at long range at targets of equal elevation.

                              Re: Increasing LOD distance???

If I am correct or incorrect, this is something I may attempt myself tonight.

                              BUT

Isnt the LOD for the map, not just your Graphics, set within the Map itself?

Meaning once set for the map no Video card could "Exceed" that max, but could go under?

I am pretty sure there is/are options via map-editor that controls max LOD and is a map property not a render property for editing. Correct me if im wrong just an idea.

If this is correct there is no way to look further on the maps since its already a map property.

If I test this myself I will post my findings. If someone beats me to it post.
