custom maps wont play in SP

when i start a custom map in singleplayer, it loads but then when i press the join game button, it puts me back to desktop, what is wrong?

they why do they show up in the sp menu, in past bf's if they dont work in sp, they wouldnt even be there.

Well not in BF2... I'm almost sure that custom maps don't work in SP but make a local server and load a custom map and see if it works, if it does not then it's the map.

bf2 / bf1942 comparison = different game, different engine, different programming, different interface..

currently 100% of all custom maps will not work on single player as the game looks for bots, as there is no bot software available yet there are no bots, therefore the crash occurs.

but yes, as AviationOrdnance said, the only way to play it 'single player' is to go to Multiplayer -> create local.

ok, well it worked in local server, but there is something worng with the textures, my sandbag fort things look really glossy, like shiny, i noticed it happened after i put lighting on high, what wrong with the sandbags.

I think someone else had this problem aswell, apparently it only happened when he changed the skin to camo style... i think.

I think it was also graphics card related as he got the shiny sandbags but when I tested it it was fine.

I hope see's this as he might have a solution if its not the camo style which is effecting you..

single player is actually possible. It requires a lot of programming and scripting though. You would need to write thousands of lines of code for AI (artificial intelligence) files for soldiers, for vehicles, blackhawks, objects that have physics. It is still possible, and would take about 1 to 2 weeks of work, but i am thinking nobody, including myself, won't do it, because its not worthed. Its more logical to wait for AI tools to come out and do all that work in 2 hours.

Sandbags is some random nVidia/BF2 bug.
It'll happen in any map, as seen here and here.
Jah, testing the new maps in Local for now.
[And Multi when a custom server/people are actually up]

Can't wait for the patch/ tools.
