Re: Snipers: do you use claymores?

Hell yes, but only way behind enemy lines.

Usually put them near vehicle spawns or doorways and hardly ever get tks. If I drive a jeep to get somewhere I'll put a claymore near it when I ditch it . The key is to put them where they'll be used quickly, if you use them defensively you'll likely kill some noob and inevitably get tks.

I think this is the best approach - use the claymores as offensive rather than defensive weapons, bit like c4 for spec ops. With regard to TK's I agree the system can be pretty sucky - I flew a blackhawk with team members in it, on fire and dodging enemy plane & helo all the way back to my home base, started to hover just over the pad to get reapirs, when bingo, another helo spawned right in the middle of me - I couldn't pull up (got stuck somehow) both exploded and wham - I was kicked off server for too many teamkills - THAT SUCKED!!

I use clays at maps like Karkand... You can chuck them at people... Instant kill lol.

Re: Snipers: do you use claymores?

i use claymores in a different way, and since i have had only 3 teams kills in over 100 hours of play using this method, i think that it is pretty good.

Okay as it has been said, there are those noobs who when they see the red skull they are like "OOOOOOO Shiney!" and BAM! they walk into them. The thing i hate is when someone walks into your mine and then they punish your for the teamkill. i say if you walk into a teammates claymore, don't be a *****bag, just admit your mistake and move on i mean the person whose mine you walked into has already gotten 4 points taken off their teamwork score because of your stupid *** error.

Anyway, the way i use claymores is, i find a good postition up on a mountain or something and then i set my claymores on my left and right sides, i put them so close that they are almost on top of me. The reason is if any friendlies come along then they have to get pretty close to you to set them off. The way this works against enemies is if someone hunts you down, kills you, and then tries to take your kit...BOOM!!! they die. Remember, claymores remain for about 20 or so seconds after you die, so don't hit your own mines because you thought they had disappeared.

This goes for everyone who walks into friendly claymores:
Use commone sense, use your 3D map to see if there are any mines, that's what its there for. OKAY!

P.S. my kill to death ratio for the sniper kit is 193:4

Re: Snipers: do you use claymores?

Without a doubt...use 'em. In an enemy base, they can be devastating. I earned my basic explosive badge just using claymores on Karkland.

                  I employ several tactics...but...

-One common one that I don't recommend is climbing the highest building and leaving it at the top of the ladder...reason is...other snipers (perhaps on your team) may also choose that spot...and sometimes you don't see the red alert in time to stop. (I know everyone here is joking about "ooh...whats that...kaboom"...but in reality...the claymores can be very sensitive...and if you happen to be running or climbing a ladder fast...by the time you see the alert it's probably too late.

                  Tactics I recommend...

-infiltrate enemy base...lay claymores around vehicles (especially planes and helos) + request supplies from the CDR...stock up and continue...(unless circumstances require it...don't worry about capping the flag just yet.)

-this one is more of a team effort - get in a BH helo and fly over the enemies base and drop them off from the air. If you have a support and can resupply...litter the whole area with claymores and you have a nice little minefield.

-never (I probably shouldn't say never...but most of the time) never use them to defend a flag. IF you plant them at one of your flags and leave the area...and your team spawns at that flag...well, you're either going to be treated to a TK or you're severely limiting their mobility to get out of the area. Someone mentioned using them as an offensive weapon...and I agree with that. Charge the enemy head on with one in hand...throw it and turn and run. If they chase after you...kaboom. (I love intentionally letting the enemy see me...I'll turn and run like I'm going to take cover...but I'll actually throw a claymore down first, and then hide...the enemy, thinking a sniper in CQB is an easy target will come running...and again, kaboom.)

                  My 2 cents.

Oh yeah...one more thing...if a friendly claymore TK's you...I think the decent thing to do is to forgive the person.
