Snipers: do you use claymores?

Been playing sniper a fair bit lately and i have come to the conclusion that you may as well headshot two of your team right away cause you know fine they will wander into your claymores later on I would say roughly 1 out 2 of my claymores are set of by hapless teamates. Then i usually get shot in the back by an enemy trooper who has climbed up the non-defended ladder to my perch:cry: No matter what I do it seems that this is gonna happen....i even tried typing out messages indicating i had CLAYMORES!!!!! near me but ....nooooooo... people still want to pic up the thing with the big red scary skull on it!!!!! I might add that almost every one of my claymores is placed at the top of a ladder and is not in some sneaky position easily blundered into.

Soooooo anyway, anyone got any clever ways of using claymores without getting two tk's per life or should i just not use them and take my chances??

... ... basically... ... i aint sure cos i dont play sniper at all class is pretty sucky tbh but there will always be twats and noobs who likje the red skulls... maybe hide in a bush??? or explore new horizons and inventive sniper spots

I use the claymores, they are very effective if you are behind enemy lines. Do not use them when teamates are around or you get TKS!!

Id never put them down for fear of a teammate being killed from it...

I try not to use them unless I'm all by myself sniping at an enemy base. I'll run down to their hangers and such and place them so as soon as you walk in BAM!!

ok what if you place them when you are behind enemy lines then your team moves forward......lol ...which to be honest happens to me a fair bit.........it would be handy if you could diffuse them or shoot them:hmm:

Snipers who sit on perches are snipers who don't get kills. Use claymores when you know someone will run into it. Think about it, then try it.

Now seriously, yes. I do use claymores, but only at places where only the enemy has an advantadge.

clays work best on carriers when your chinese MEC

when i steal a jet, i always leave behind 2 presents....

but dont if anyone else is on carrier with you, or as bbob says

I'd say it depends on your team...sadly, I have resorted to THANKING teammates for not walking into my claymores (sad that its that rare)...inevitably, after 4 messages warning about claymores...someone will come by though...so here is what I do:

1) Unless I am going to be somewhere a while, I don't use them and try to snipe from spots where I can't be approached from behind (there are spots, you just have to look). Once again this depends on the intelligence of your teammates...converse is true, if I am off the beaten path I use them with impunity...

2) If I am going to be somewhere long term, I deploy them just off the ladder (trying to give teammates a chance to see it before they go all the way up), if I am at a place where there are ladders (otherwise, I deploy them directly in front of me...always funny watching some wisecrack come up to knife me and never understand why I never shot at them :) )...As a corrolary, when I run out of ammo, I will usually chose to walk back in front of it as a suicide to 1 clear the claymore and 2 come back with ammo (kinda silly you can deploy them and not disarm them)...

3) I only deploy 1 claymore at a time. This tends to limit the casualties to 1 if there are idiots on your team and prevents you from getting a server boot. If someone chases the claymore like a dog after a bone, then I don't use the other one so I don't get kicked...

4) Never use them as a squad leader (for obvious reasons I hope)...sometimes have had the misfortune of becoming squad leader after the claymores have deployed...either b/c of autoteambalance or because squad leader left...only to get kicked out of the server moments later

They are a pretty mixed bag, though there are times where I wish I could have more than 2...

I don't use claymores anymore not after what happened to me in Sharqui. I placed a claymore on top of a ladder and a friendly helicopter flew to close claymore went off helicopter blew up and both idiots inside punish. Then i placed my 2nd claymore only to have someone climb the ladder peak his head over look at the claymore then proceed to climb and die and punish.
