I've noticed that the people who got basic knife and pistol before veteran knife and pistol (ie on separate occasions) will actually show the basic and the veteran as 2 different awards in their stats.

Who cares you might say, well it means that people who went straight to veteran badges, although when awarded the in-game screen shows both basic and veteran, DONT actually have basic and cant receive it. This means that they can never recieve the Combat Infantry Medal, Marksman Infantry Medal or Sharpshooter Infantry Medal.

Look at the current leaderboard and you will see many guys who have 500 hours and all the infantry badges, but because they got the veteran knife and pistol straight off, they dont have the Combat Infantry Medal.

How can I submit this bug to EA?

Even if you do get veteran straight off you are automatically given two awards. I got vet pistol straight off and automatically got 2 medals. Basic and veteran. Once you get expert, you get 3 medals. This isn't a bug.

no bug here, this is just how the stat server are set, in your BF2 you won't see two but only one.

I dont think you've understood what I'm saying.

Fire up BF2 Stat retriever (http://bf2sr.com) and look at [TR]Dissb.

You will see he has a Basic Medic Combat Badge and Veteran Medic Combat Badge, and because he earned them at different times, they show up as 2 different awards. But if you look at Knife and Pistol, they only show up as Veteran (becuase he won basic and veteran in the same round), and thats why although he has the 500 hours needed for combat infantry medal he doesnt have the award, becuse there is a bug in the system. Same goes for >broggi< etc etc..

Now look at NASTIE_BUTLER or |SI|BLacK_JeSuS, they both have the Combat Infantry medal, because they got the basic badges on their own, and these are visible in BF2SR.

yeah its a known bug. well, known to players, EA probably hasnt a clue. iirc it will stop you getting the expert medal.

damn, the one and only medal ill probably get i cant get now cos i got the basic and veteran pistol badges at the exact same time

does this also mean players with vet and/or expert badges can´t get promoted from master sgt to first sgt ? should get fixed..

Umm no offense but you shouldnt even be given the chance to play anyway you CHEATED plain and simple,and you could do it again.sorry if this offends you just my opinion.

btw that stats padding is not cheating imo... its just a lame way to get stats...

I am not sure if it is that simple, the other requirment is 34 minutes in one round, that is incredibly hard to do on a legitimate server. I play as a commander quite a lot and havent managed the "28 minute requirment" for the staff officer ribbon yet, maybe its because i'm a good commander and if a round lasted that long you would have to be incompetant or in a almost empty server.

Some people just dont play to get the specific awards and wait for them to come naturally (like me) so who knows if the bug you suggest even exists?? BTW i too skipped the basic badge because i had more then 50 kills before getting it, and i expect most people will get it that as to get it with so few kills must take some sort of effort.

If it turns out to be a geniune bug then i'm 100% sure it will be fixed, i still think its more likely that the players with over 500 hours who havent got it just havent spent 34 in a server yet, as most of the heavy users spend all thier time in Strike at Karkand servers so are lucky to spend 15 minutes in a round let alone 34.

I think you also spend too much time looking and worrying about other people stats and awards, but thats besides the point :laugh:

No its not. I've had rounds last an hour.

I played 10 hours of commander and i got staff officer with relative ease.

Why have you taken offense at my polite and factual reply? Do you not think those things are possible? or were you just looking for people to scream "EA IS TEH SUCKS!!!!1111" with you? You will at least agree if this turns out to be an actual bug then DICE will fix it? yes?

I have lost interest in expanding on the things you have quoted as you are obviously just looking for an argument with that flamebait response. I guess you havent bothered emailing bfhq@ea.com either but have taken the time to come here 5 days after my post to try and start a flamewar, well done.

I've been through the top 20 on the leaderboard. The ONLY ones who have combat infantry medals are the ones that show separate basic pistol and knife badges. Do you think its just coincidence? All the other guys with over 500 hours and all badges (except the knife and pistol being veteran instead of basic) have just never played a round longer than 34 minutes? It might be possible but its totally unlikely, thus why its safe to assume its a bug.

No I'm not here bashing EA, I just wanted to make people aware of the issue, as I thought people would like to know that those three medals plus the last 3 ranks are unavailable to them as it stands and yes I have contacted EA, and as yet have had no reponse.

As for flamewar, I just disagree with your theory of 34 minutes, as its nonsense, and your "joke" wasnt very funny, actually it just wasnt funny at all.
