need advice: 6600GT or plain 6800

Guys, I need your advice. I want to get a new card, but I do not feel like spending a lot of money. Browsing through the stuff I can get here in Poland I came to a conclusion that I may either get a 6600GT or plain 6800 (AGP slot). Both are 128RAM, but 6800 is a bit more expensive. 6800GT are kinda hard to get here and more expensive.

Considering the fact that I may have to replace the PSU as well, I will not go for 600GT and chose either 6600GT or plain 6800. Which of these two will be better guys?

I have a 6600GT OC. Its work fine for me. I have never used, or seen how a plain 6800 works.

6800 is faster

Plus if you get a 6800 AGP you have a chance of unlocking the extra pipelines. Pair it up with a decent aftermarket cooler you have a underclocked and crapper ram version of the 6800gt.

That has nothing to do with the question he was asking. He said he couldn't get a 6800gt.

Whats the rest of your comp stats? Depending on the stats, you might be better off with the slightly lower end 6800, or the 6600GT that manages to stay close enough to the 6800 NU by a good margin.

The rest of my components are:

PIV 2,8 Prescott HT
Intel PERL Mobo (can't remember the details though
1 GIG RAM (2*512 Dual Kingston)

I am not a computers gig, so all that stuff with unlocking the pipelines is kinda scary.

BTW. What is the minimum requirement for the PSU in case of 6600GT, since I know that that particular model of 6800 requires at least 360W.

6600GT is 350W.

To be honest, read up on unlocking the pipelines. It aint too scary. Just open a program and do it. No touching the card.

Other than that get the 6600GT if you do not want to overclock. But remember-

6600GT= BEST OF 6600 series- hard to find more power

6800= 2nd to WORST of 6800 series- Room to overlcock

dont be fooled into getting a 6800le the 6600gt is faster than that
