    Re: Cant join multiplayer games?

Hi, I had this SAME EXACT problem recently. It happened after I uninstalled BF1942 and BFV actually. I don't know specifically what caused it. Anyway, what I ended up doing (because I couldn't even run setup off the DVD) was remove the Battlefield 2 folder. Do NOT remove your profiles from My Documents. Those remain untouched. I then went into C:\Program Files\Installshield. I looked for the folders dated the same as when I installed BF2 and deleted them. I also went into the registry with regedit and deleted any EA Games\Battlefield 2 registry keys (in HKEY_Local_Machine\Software or HKEY_Local_USER\Sofware). Then I ran the install off the DVD, then patched the game. I was then able to start the game and login with my usual profile. It was a pain in the butt, but it worked.

He is correct. I uninstalled BF1942 and whammo - same issues. I followed EA's instructions to the letter and my performance actually improved. Like he said, be sure to copy the "profiles" folder from the My Documents/BF2 directory to the desktop first then after reinstalling the game, paste that folder back into that directory. When you launch the game, all will be as before - except it will be working of course.

        To delete the save files:

        1.
        Open My Documents.
        2.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.

To delete the game files (in the default location):

        1.
        Open My Computer.
        2.
        Open the C drive.
        3.
        Open the Program Files folder.
        4.
        Open the EA GAMES folder.
        5.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
        6.
        Close all open windows.
        7.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2:

        1.
        Click on the Start button.
        2.
        Click on Run.
        3.
Type regedit in the text field.
        4.
Click File and then choose Export.
        5.
Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
        6.
Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
        7.
Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
        8.
Click the plus sign next to Software.
        9.
Click the plus sign next to DICE.
        10.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
        11.
Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
        12.
Right-click and choose Delete on any Battlefield 2 folders.
        13.
Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
        14.
Click the plus sign next to Windows.
        15.
Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
        16.
Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
        17.
Right-click and choose Delete on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}.
        18.
        Close the Registry Editor.

Battlefield 2 should now be completely uninstalled. If anything appears to be working incorrectly after editing the registry, simply double-click on the Backup file on your desktop to restore the old registry.

Also follow these steps when you uninstall! That is more detailed than what I gave you. I had to remove the installshield stuff too, though.

Follow these steps for uninstalling as well! I had to do the Installshield stuff too, though. Before that, Setup would just disappear after it ran the opening status.

                Re: Cant join multiplayer games?

when you uninstall 1942 it messes up your cd key for bf2. There is a post on here tells you how to put it back in and that will fix the problem.
