Hi everybody,
I'm having problems on bf2
My graphics are crashing, i dont know whats going on...
My computer:
Athlon XP 3000+
1 gb RAM
ATi RADEON 9800
Some screens of the errors:



I've already tried the CATALYST 5.8 and 5.7, both of 'em didn't work
I've downloaded the 5.6 i will try it later

PLEASE give me a hand i've been here 5 hours looking for something to fix this problem but i didn't found

Do other games work fine?

Did you uninstall the old drivers properly?

Did you reinstall BF2?

What is your PSU?

The first thing I would suggest, would be to make sure there's only driver set on the PC, here's how:

1) Go into Add/Remove control panel and remove all drivers and ATI control panels. The ATI uninstall utility should do both.

2) Boot into Safe Mode. F8 just before Windows boot.

3) If any driver plug&play detection comes up, click cancel.
While in safe mode use Driver Cleaner, http://drivercleaner.net and remove any drivers relevant to ATI.

4) Boot into Windows normally. If any driver plug&play detection comes up, click cancel.

5) Install driver with its installer. Reboot when finished.

Now there's only one driver set for the display adapter installed.

First uninstall your old drivers properly-

Uninstall from CONTROL PANEL

RESTART

BOOT IN SAFE MODE AND THEN RUN DRIVER CLEANER PRO

RESTART then install 5.6 drivers, they work best.

If the errors go away

There's probably a way to to manually make sure that all files are gone before reinstalling drivers, but DriverCleaner does a good job of removing them.

Glad it worked out for you.

The approch with using driver cleaner I recommend to use every time you change gfx driver ( or other driver that driver cleaner can clean) then you most likely won't run into similar problems, I know I haven't since I start using it.

PSU is a product term for a Power Supply. Not sure how a graphics issue could be related to a power supply. I sometimes, like once in 200 get an issue like that when I select a squad then try and rechoose my kit.... Doesn't happen often enough to give two sh1ts...

if you have a ****ty power supply it can cause graphics problems, or more likely system crashes/reboots.

Ok you're right, it is possible but it is unlikely, I found it strange that rather than suggesting the card be faulty, it was assumed to be PSU. All good though, his issue is fixed!
