    The Science of the SVBIED

For those of you who don't know, "SVBIED" stands for "Suicidal Vehicle-born Improvised Explosive Device". Basically, a car bomb.

I made a video demonstrating the different formations. You can click here to download it. It's approximately 5 MB in size and a minute and 30 seconds long.

    Transport selection:
First, you have to choose which car you want to make into a SVBIED. Depending on the situation, you might like to use the FAV or the Humvee/Vodnik.

Never use an APC or a tank. These vehicles are very important to your team's success, and it's waste. Also, if you can, select vehicles at a faraway base so that you can keep as many transports on the frontline as possible for your team.

    FAV:
    Advantages: Fast, small.
    Disadvantages: Weak, no driver protection.
Use for: Taking out smaller vehicles, APCs and AA, and for taking out small clusters of infantry. Can be used against tanks in a pinch.

    Humvee/Vodnik:
Advantages: Stronger, provides driver protection, larger debris.
    Disadvantages: Slow, larger target.
Use for: Taking out vehicles and large clusters of infantry.

    C4 formation:

Putting C4 on the right spots is important for getting the maximum amount of kills possible. Depending on the situation, patterns will differ. Feel free to invent your own!

    Infantry's Nightmare:

This is for taking out large clusters of infantry. Place two C4 on the front of the vehicle and one on each side towards the front, as well as your last one on the back.

To use, drive into the middle of a cluster of infantry, hop out and detonate. The strength of the forward blast will propel the debris backwards, ramming it into any infantry in the way. The blasts at the side and the back will also take out infantry on the vehicles' flanks.

    Tankbuster:

This is great for tanking out single tanks or other large vehicles. Place all five C4 on the front of the vehicle.

To use, sneak up on a tank and ram into it from behind, then hop out and detonate. The forward blast should be strong enough to demolish anything standing in your way, and the debris should fly backwards and take out anyone who happened to be in the way.

    vehicular Disaster:

Use one is used to take out multiple vehicles that are clustered together. Useful when two tanks or APCs team up to capture a point. Place two C4 packs on each side of the vehicle and one on the hood.

To use, drive between any two (or more) vehicles, hop out and detonate. The side blasts should be enough to take out tanks and APCs if they're close enough. Otherwise, you'll make it much easier for your team to take them out.

    Long-Distance Ram:

This is a rather unusual one. This is useful for launching into places like sheds or into camping spots for clusters of infantry, though you may prefer to use the Infantry's Nightmare instead. For extra fun, drive the vehicle off of a large cliff, hop out and detonate, then watch it fly. All five C4 packs go on the back of the vehicle.

To use, get about 10 metres away from your target, hop out and detonate. The vehicle should go flying forward. Best results with the FAV.

    Tips:
    • Know the battlefield. If possible, pre-plan what routes you will take to come up behind the enemy. Get your team to call out vehicle positions.
    • Be patient. Sometimes, it's best to ambush. Find a good hiding spot by a popular road and switch to the external cam. Wait for a full or mostly-full vehicle, or a large cluster of infantry, to pass by before attacking.
    • Stay out of sight. The last thing you need is a tank spotting you while you're trying to sneak up on it. Wait until it's preoccupied with something else or until it turns a corner.
    • If you are spotted, swerve! And be random. If you just do a standard zig-zag, the tank will just wait for you to zig back into his line of fire before firing. If you're random, he won't be able to follow you so easily.
    • If you see a big cluster of vehicles, wait until they pass by and then drive out and chase them down. It's better if they have a transport vehicle of their own in the convoy, because they'll assume that the sound of you driving up behind it is their own vehicle.
    • For extra fun, hold down the fire button as you approach your target, to let it know that it's about to die. :)

If anyone else has any other C4 formations or tips, go ahead and post. :)

    LOL  nicely done!

Above, you referred to an FAV as an APC by mistake in your heading.

heehee, HONK HONK BOOM! I like it!

Great guide btw, excellent variants. Plus i like the name 'SVBIED'...is that an official term or did you make it up?

      Anyway, excellent work.

Thanks. :) I believe that it's an informal term used by soldiers in Iraq. I read about it in Michael Yon's blog. He's an independant journalist in Iraq, travelling with soldiers.

Another thing to mention - if you do not use all your c4 - save some for another ride. For Example: If you go careening into an enemy base and take out a tank as it is just leaving - quickly go grab their jeep while they are confused and looking for the plane or chopper if they did not see you drive in. Load up that jeep and rinse and repeat.

You can actually get away with one c4 for an APC and 2 c4 for a tank (sometimes one pack will do a tank in as well - side shot with c4 on the same side you come in contact with). You need to remember your lil Jeep or Buggy just adds to the explosive value. Unless you are planning on going full jihad - I would say only use 2 packs at a time at the most, that way if you do live through it - you can live to die again as it were...heh.

Also - keep the pedal down - never know when you will crest a hill and come across an enemy vehicle - if you have that c4 in the front - insta boom!!

When I got my explosives badge this is the tactic I used - worked well...although my score sucked....I got my medal....and it was fun - lol.

For extra fun - scream a high pitched aallalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaaa as you lay on the horn for your final run!!!

I usually just place 2 C4's on the front as well. No more are needed.

I can't understand suicide bombing, even in games... I just can't get in the head of someone who wants to emulate this behavior.

If you use different formations of C4, you'll get blasts in different directions that can kill more. And bigger explosions are always cool.

It's fun. Nothing is more amusing than stopping a tank's reign of terror by sneaking up behind it in a dinky little car and blowing it to pieces.

By the way guys, I made a video demonstrating the different formations. You can click here to download it. It's approximately 5 MB in size and a minute and 30 seconds long.

Re: The Science of the SVBIED

Funny guide i like it :) But i would like to also agree with not using all the C4 unless its a suicide mission, i usually use 3 (2 on front and 1 on rear) so i can park up and blow armour and then if i survive i am still equipped for my original mission. In fact i almost always plant C4 on my jeep just in case i see an easy armour kill, approach from rear and park it, tanks ALWAYS seem to reverse when they sense danger so he will usually back into it even if you cant park close enough. This way you are still effective and armed if you survive.

Spreading the C4 around like you have shown is great for suicide runs especially into clustered infantry and light vehicles. Flag spawns that have just be taken can becoming bloody messes with many kill points for your -1 suicide point

Lastly i think using anything but the FAV's is a waste, the others are far too slow to be effective, especially after the first time it happens and they are ready for you. The FAV's can easilly outrun APC's turret rotation and are manoeuvrable enought to dodge AT missiles and even chasing attack choppers with some practice, they powerslide like beasts

Oh BTW that acronym you use is unique and all but are most well known "Jihad Buggys" and just to mention if you are leaving the trap of a rigged C4 jeep for the enemy to take then hide a couple inside the vehicle, on the seats or footwell they will never spot it that way for a comedy moment as they accelerate away thinking they have escaped.

Re: The Science of the SVBIED

One thing with leaving an ambush buggy - I have found the most effective way of getting away with this is to do this to the vehicle that team uses.

If I am on China, and I take my jeep to enemy base and leave it for them to take - they usually blow it up instead. However, if I grab a FAV from another base, then run in and stash it or just leave it near an APC or Tank spawn - gauranteed kill on the drive away.

                        Nice guide.

I used to just load em' all up on the front and hope for the best, but I now use the Infantry Buster layout in all circumstances.

I'm working on a guide to the roadside bomb. It'll take a few more days though, I'm still watching how different enemies handle C4 in the middle of the road.
