keep getting connection problem warnings. I think its the belkin f5d7632-4 router. apparently i cant open enough ports so does that mean i'll have to open it all up and rely on my firewall? Pc knowledge next to amoeba levels so please allow for some ? thanks

Unplug the router and try to connect directly to your cable/dsl modem. This will eliminate any other possiblities. People get those messages even without firewall/routers. -

need more words --> what kind of connection do you have? what kind of ping are you getting? Wired/wireless/10/56/100/1000? get a game server IP address (66.114.142.22 etc.) from the server browser and try a tracert. go to start>run>type: cmd. When command console comes up, type: tracert 66.114.142.22, then press enter. This will show you the path of your connection from your machine all the way to the game server. You can check there for any problems, slow routers, etc... If nothing else its fun! I once had a similar problem and found that a bad router at my isp was dropping about 20% of my packets. Took a 1 minute phone call to fix. you can post the results if you wanna. Right click inside the command console and select "mark", this will allow you to highlight text, it sould copy automactically after you highlight what u and and left click.Comment
