Guys, no holy-warrin' OK? Mac-vs-PC, Intel-vs-AMD, ATi-vs-nVidia. Everybody gets angry and shouty and nobodies opinions are changed and everyone ends up crying.

          system specs:

Nvidia Palit GeForce 6200 256mb AGP
          Intel Pentium 4 1.8 GHz
          60 GB HDD

Its because despite being a very good game BF2 is VERY poorly coded. Its no surprise your having a problem running it properly i too have to run it at 800x600 with all settings on low.

Don't you think it's the fact he's trying to run a brand new game on a three-year-old system has anything to do with it?

Well, it could also be due to the fact the the minimum suggested specs include a 1.7GHz processor - so you're rather borderline there. Your DSL speed of 512KBps is rather impressive, though, so you shouldn't have a problem there - it sure does beat the 7KBps limit you have with dial-up nowadays!

More than anything, though, as others have said, your system setup and configuration... what you're running... etc. have a lot to do with the performance of any game.

fact that you say half life and far cry run on full with a P4 1.8Ghz and a 6200 makes you a fool, this is impossible, unless you are running on resolution 640*500 or something like that, tell us the truth first and then you may get some help

Re: wat the hell is going on here?!

I found that BF2 is more sensitive to overclock, especially gfx card. I have to stop o/c my 6800GT to avoid stutter/lag. On the other hand, other 3D games run well with o/c.

You probably can run everything on high with a 2.6, but you will sacrifice the FPS. I have a P4 2.6ghz 1 gig 3200 RAM & I just went & upgraded to the ATI X850XT. That card is sweet. I can run it all on high but I choose to go all medium for the fact that I get 100fps that way. there is NOT much difference between medium & high as far as graphics are concerned. Thats just my opinion. I do of course run the lighting on low. Makes a HUGE difference on spotting people in the corners of buildings & stuff cause it removes the shadows on the ground. Try it & you can see what I mean. Especially on those half constructed multi level buildings. with lighting on high, it is so dark between the different levels of the building. On low or off, you can see if there are people up there.
