    Help please?

Hi Im new to this forum, but have been reading peoples posts for sometime now, I have had battlefield since the day it come out and I have always had this problem.

I am only getting around 27fps when standing still, and around 17fps when in combat.

I bought a new GFX card the day I bought the game, Geforce Nvidia 6600 AGP8X, and all other games work sweet.

    I have a AMD Athlon 3.0ghz, 1gb ram. 3 HHD 80gb each.

What is going on here? is they any thing I am missing? All patches have been installed.

Also My sound crackles constant, ever since I had the game.

    Any help would be great.

    Re: Help please?

All the standard issues. First thing I'd do is set resolution to 1024x768 and all video and audio settings to "Low". Make sure EAX is set to off and if you're using onboard sound set it to "Software". See if your fps go up from there. A 6600 isn't going to run anything on "High". My cousin has a 9600XT and can only have a few things on Med at 800x600, but he gets good fps and doesn't care about looks. Try those settings and see what you get.

Definately the RAM. This game depends highly on RAM and although 1GB seems enough, it's not. That will bring up your FPS.

My cousin's maching runs a 9800se and 1gig and it can pull 80fps at 800x600 all low. So this rig should do better than 20s. It may be the vanilla 6600, but i'm not very familiar with it's performance. Also another rig with a Sempron 2400 and 1 gig w/9600xt runs well in the 50-60 fps range also low @800x600. Granted it'll look like crap compared to what I'm used to, but it's definitely playable. The gattling gun on the blackhawk is just a black tube..lol.. No offense.

            Re: Help please?

try driver cleaner, then re-install your video drivers, and delete the cache before firing up the game, so it will recompile the textures using your new card and driver info...

So I know its not the gfx card, they is just soemthing im not doing right, thanks for the help any way.

                Re: Help please?

I'm sorry but that card will not run all settings on High. Are you sure you uncle doesn't have a 6800gt or 6800 ultra. The 6600 series may get a few high at 800x600...maybe.
Your specs should run fine at medium and lows. What motherboard do you have, and are you using onboard sound or a PCI sound card. Sound settings affect gameplay in BF2.

try turning down the lightening and turning off AA. this might give you the boost you need.

its not in your uncles computer, try doing what I said, it fixes lots of problems. Your old video card drivers may still be kicking around. For that matter, what drivers are you using now? What drivers didl you install with the card?
