  • Constant "horn" sound, plus my weapon is silent?!?!

Just built a new PC and installed BF2. So I'm a noob. I'm just using the onboard sound on my ASUS P5RD1-V mobo. Other specs: P4 630 (3.0 ghz), ATI X800, 1 GB RAM. When I plug in my speakers and enter a game, I hear an almost constant "horn" sound and my own weapon is silent, yet I hear other weapons, plane sounds, sound effects, etc. It's so bad that I play in silent mode which is no fun.

Do I have whacked out on-board sound? Should I install a SB Audigy 2 Value card or a SB Live 5.1 card?

    thx!

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers and the latest sound drivers from the makers website? If not, doing so should bring your drivers up to the task of gaming.

Ive had soemthing somewhat similar. Ill be playing and one specific player will have an automatic weapon fire sound follow him throughout the map. I use SB Audigy Gamer with latest drivers. I'm thinking game bug.

Currently there is a bug in which sounds will repreat themselves. I usually get the medics "ripping the gause" sound repeated for some reason. The gun sounds on my game on occassion will drop, again I believe this is just a bug. DICE is releasing a patch sometime in the near future (v1.03) which should address many of these issues.
