this mite sound like a stupid question but i dont kno that much about computers but why do people use anti aliasing. I heard that it can take up alot of system resources but if u just increase the resolution up to 1280X1024..theres no more aliasing and u get a higher resolution pic?

Personal preference bud, some people like to play with 800*600 res others at 1600*1200. AA is just extra eye candy, if your gpu can handle it then why the hell not? :) -

Anti Aliasing makes the game look nicer. If you're already running everything on Ultra High with no problem, now you finally have something to change that will affect the speed at which you play,
Seriously though? It's for those who don't mind lowering some settings to improve others.
I'd rather have an option to turn it on/off, than have it at a set value.

I love having AA enabled, as it smooths out the rough edges. The lower the resolution, the more you'll notice it.
You'll notice it alot on sharp edges, like buildings, or fly-bys.
If your GPU can handle it, crank it!

It also makes it easier to see people peeking around corners. With it off , the edges of building & stuff make it hard to see them!Comment

Because it makes this game look 1000 times better.
If you are use to playing with no AA, it's not an issue. Once you are use to playing with AA on however, you will notice that the game looks like sh!t with it off.Comment

I am lucky enough to have a nice processor, ram, v-card and 19" 8ms LCD. So I crank mine as high as it will go. I do notice a difference, but hey... if you have nice video card and your processor bottle necks a bit.. just leave it off. Its not that big of a difference really.Comment
