Hat switch for mouse look?

I have a Logitech 3D Pro, which has an eight way digital hat switch.

Questions:

1. Does anyone use a similar hatswitch for mouselook during airplane flight?

2. Does it work well?

3. How did you set it up?

I do not believe you can do this currently. If you use a binding program, it maybe possible, but by default it is not.

Does Logictech give you any kind of config program that lets you set up the hat switch so it acts as a mouse? That's how I do it with my Cybertek Evo stick.

I don't use it as often as I'd like, though, because activating the mouselook modifier locks out the main airplane controls (basically making the joystick useless until you let go of the modifier key). I'd like to be able to look "up" and into a turn while pulling back on the stick in order to keep track of another plane in a dogfight. As soon I press the modifier key to activate POV, though, it's as if I suddenly stopped holding the stick back, and the plane stops turning.

Haha, I have a Siatek as well. I'm not sure if logitech does or not. Its called a binding program. It will trick the computer into thinking you're pressing the buttons but in reality you're just pressing 1.

You should be able to find one that will work with all inputs.

Yeah that is what I want to do as well . Logitech does have a program to config the joystick, I haven't tried that yet. But I can see how having to hit a key to activate mouselook could disrupt joystick movement.

Personally, I use JoyToKey and I have it set up so that you can simply use the hatswitch to view inside the cockpit without having to hold down any other keys. It's one-touch.

I should also add that with JoyToKey, I only have to move the hatswitch for mouse looking..I don't have to hold down any other key or joystick button. I basically achieve the effect that should have originally been included.

I have included the 2 config files I use with my MS Sidewinder Precision 2 to achieve the one-motion mouselook. You can check them out to see how I did it, or you can ask here and I can help. All you have to do is load 2 instances of JoyToKey and set each instance to use one of the 2 configs so that both configs are running simultaneously.

You'll also notice that I have it set up so that you can use the Commo rose and voice communication while flying Nice added bonus

Hold down button 5 to: use the hatswitch to change camera views and change jet weapon loadouts, button 6 to eject, and button 7 to voip chat with squad.

Hold down button 8 to: use the hatswitch for the commo rose, button 1 (trigger) to select the command.
