A way to improve your FPS

Im not sure how many people know about this, but posting it anyway.

BF2 automatically caps your fps, if you unlock this BF2 will run at the limits of your graphics card. I have a 6600GT and this has given me a 50% frames per second boost, I now get roughly 100 fps and enjoy smooth(er) gameplay.

To unlock your fps, type "game.lock fps 400" in the console. You have to type this for every new server you go into, when you have done it once it remembers it for that server.

    Hope this helps:)

        Isn't the default game.lockfps at 100 ??

So unless you have a monitor capable at running above 100Hz on your gaming resolution on a CRT or a response rate at 10ms or lower on a LCD it wouldn't matter.

No matter how many FPS a gfx card spits at a monitor, it still can't show more FPS than its Hz (or response rate allows on LCDs).

Or did you get 100 FPS as max when you increased it to 400, which sounds odd??

You can add the game.lockfps 400 in you video.con in profile dir and write protect it and it will do it at load everytime.

I dont see how this can boost your frame rate. The frame cap is 100FPS and I am very doubtfull that Merlins 6600GT would get a 50% performance increase from just increasing the game's maximum permitted FPS.

Hey Gunny!!!! Anyways regarding this "way to improve your FPS" smells like a bad fart..... sorry this does not help!!!

And as usual Gunny is right it would be very useful to monitors that only go to say 85 refresh rate or even LCD monitors that havea response time of a 8-10. I have taught Gunny well... LMAO
