need help w/ resolution

So I've been looking around the forum trying to get the game to run in 1280x1024 and I just can't do it. I don't seem to have any stability problems anymore though. If anyone has any insight, please help.

My 'pute:
2700+ AMD "Barton"
9600xt
LG L1780U (using DVI)
Audigy 2 ZS
1GB Corsair 400Mhz (in dual channel)
Logitech Z560 speakers

What do you mean you can't do it??

If by that you mean you can't select it in video options, it is because 1280x1024 isn't the correct 4:3 resolution, but 1280x960. The problem is that many monitors has the 1280x1024 as their native res.

To make BF2 use 1280x1024, right-click on shortcut to BF2, in the target textbox it will say something like ....bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1.

Add +szx 1280 +szy 1024 to the textbox so it looks like:
....bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024.

This has been covered a lot of times, and could easily have been found via search of forum, e.g. for keyword 1280. You can also take a look at this tweakguide for BF2 it has a lot of usefull information like the topic of this thread: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

It should be 'fixed' in patch 1.03 so ppl can select it in video options menu too.

Well that wasn't apparent from your post, the more info you give in initial post the less ppl have to ask follow-up questions.

What does it do when you try?? Are there any error msgs?? We need more info to help, the more you provide the less we have to guess.

Have you installed latest drivers for your gfx card and for monitor as well?

It's too hard to depict emotions in a forum. I'm sure Gunny is just trying to help and wasn't trying to be a prick. He answered the question and it's very hard to tell what people's exact problem is without detailed and sometimes lengthy posts, but we'd rather have to read through alot of information and be able to help then get a brief description and then make assumptions.

My bad. It's running in a 4:3 resolution but my monitor says 1280x1024. I can tell because circles appear as ovals and some things are too big. Latest drivers on everything too. The game runs fine when I play it. I've also cleared the cache before adding the commands to the shortcut.
