Help with patch

Sorry in advance if this has een covered in detail, but I couldnt find a simple answer using seach.

I have just bought the game (CD version) and I cant get the 1.02 patch to install.
I install the game and then try to install the patch I just dowloaded from the EA website, but when the patch is supposed to install the program just freezes.
I have uninstalled and tried again with the same result

Am I doing something wrong? any suggestions?

yeah I have tried that, the computer has been restrated a couple of times, but thanks for the reply.

how long did you leave the patch frozen for because sometimes it'll seem like your system freezes but it is really patching, and it all depends on your system i think on how long it takes. it may take 5-20 minutes.

I've left it on twice for about 20-30 minutes, but I guess Ill try it agin and wait longer.
I was hoping this was a problem that lots of people have had, but I guess not.

shouldnt take that long. try closing down everything else and aptching while not online.

well I guess that waiting must have helped, as a tried to install it again and just left the computer for a while, and when I had returned it was finished.
Thanks for your help with that problem, but now I have another question.

All of the servers seem to have pings of 150+, which seems pretty high, when I ran the demo most pings were much lower than that, many being under 100.
I thought I read somewhere that this was a problem that could be fixed by erasing some files or something? does anyone have similar issues?

When I sort by ping I usually only get 10-15 servers that are lower than 109, but even when I go into a server that shows maybe a 145 ping or so, when I start playing, my ping is actually under 100. So I don't know how accurate the ping is when you're looking down the list.

yeah the pa tch does take a VERY long time to install and it does seem like your PC has crashed but it hasn't.

A tell tale sign is to look at your hdd LED if its flashing then ur PC's busy being patched.

Make sure antivirus is off.
