    I Seriously Need Some Help

    Hey guys!

Right, i got BattleField 2 today and i installed it. The instalation went flawless and after browsing a lot of forums i installed the patch also without any problems.

Now if i start the game, everything seems to be okay, but at the moment i want to play, it just closes the game without a single sound to the desktop.

After days of searching and browsing and trying different stuff like getting the latest vid card drivers and the newest Direct X and adding missing .dll files im kinda lost... I badly wanna play the game.. but it wont let me >.<

I desperatly need some help with this. Please leave me a comment or some advice.

I gots a 2.7 ghz, 128 mb NVidia GeForce 5600 and 1.500 RAM incase someone needs to know.

Seems you may need to upgrade your video card. I too had the same exact problem you had w/ the same video card. So I simply bought a ATi x700 PRO and no problem no more.

As much as I hate being the bearer of bad news, he is correct. Your video card is not supported by BF2. EA lists the suported nvidia cards as follows:

Battlefield 2 has the following minimum requirements. If your computer does not meet these requirements, the game will not run properly if at all.

      NVIDIA GeForce

      *
      6600 (PCIe), PCX 5900 (PCIe).
      *
      5800 series (AGP).
      *
      6800 Ultra, 6800 GT, 6800.
      *
FX 5950 series, FX 5900 series, FX 5700 series.

Re: I Seriously Need Some Help

Yea thats the same that i was thinking about.

But from those days reading/browsing i noticed that more people have the same video card and can play the game nicely. Thats the main reason i finally posted and asking for help, maybe someone knows what i have to do to make it work.

I wanna know if there is a possibility to make it work with the stuff i have.

Edit: Thanks Shamus for that nice info, but as those lists are not correct totally, i still wanna see if someone has a other solution. Cause the lowest video card that is compatible is a GeForce 5200

What video drivers do you use? Try using 3rd party drivers. I have a couple good links but they should all be in the forum. That will definately solve your problem.

Yea i tried that.. i cant remember what name it was though @_@ It helped other guys to play their game after installing it, it didnt help me =(

Maybe one of your 3rd party drivers will help, who knows. Ill check around to find yours.

Did you try the Demo? How did it run? Do you shutdown background programs, notably, anti-virus ect...?(see manual).

Will the game run on low settings? Lastly, don't select play now...choose a server with a decent ping.

                How about single player?

No_Friends01: That are the drivers i already tried, and didnt work.. thanks anyways.

Nodhere: No i didn't play the demo, cause demo's are evil. And yes i closed all background programs, i never let anything run when im playing.
I tried on low settings, high settings, anything. It just drops to the desktop when i want to play either single player or multiplayer.

Re: I Seriously Need Some Help

i would personally get a new vid card anyway, a better, you will find that will fix the prob.

if you are short of cash, format, then reinstall and try again, may possibly work. But it is very high chance of coming from a video card issue.

Okay so i might get a new card. I already kinda found a very good one.

                      Asus Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB

Now i wonder, would this one work with BattleField2? I know its Asus but its deffinatelly better then ATI.

Re: I Seriously Need Some Help

I'd highly recommend going to a 9600xt over the pro if you can afford it. The price shouldn't be much different and it will work fine on low resolution low settings. Asus isn't known for their video cards. Great motherboards but fair video cards.

Okay so i guess you mean the Asus Radeon 9600 XT 128MB?

Or did you mean like an other brand.. cause does it really matter if its Asus? I trust them more then some other brand like lame Club3D or Saphire.

Re: I Seriously Need Some Help

ASUS has put out a few versions of cards that were somewhat misleading. They basically underclocking or using lesser chips yet still selling them and calling them by their traditional name. They were supposed to have stopped that practice so you need to research the exact product model to make sure.

The 9600 series is at the bottom of the food chain where BF2 is concerned. I know you want to play the game but for the dollar, you are not getting much of an upgrade. What I mean is that for an extra dollar and by saving one more box-top you can move up one more generation of video cards and have the gaming experience you are looking for and expecting.
