    War College Ribbon

It appears that the War College ribbon is the most difficult to get. Lets compile a list of tips and strategies from people who have it to help people who are trying to get this one.

    What we know:

-The criteria that makes this one difficult is the 3:1 team loss ratio that has been established NOT 3:1 KDR.

-You cannot switch at the last min to the winning side and have it count a win. It gives you the win\loss for the side youve spent the most time on.

-If you quit early it counts as a loss even if your side wins.

-From my point of view it seems that the only way you can do much about the win loss ratio is playing your best and directing good squads.

-Commander seems to have more influence on infantry maps to make the difference between a win and a loss.

Does anyone else have anything to add here that has helped them on their way to getting the fabled WC ribbon?

I'm still trying for mine but I've managed to take my win loss ratio from 1.9 up to 2.1 in the last 3 days but I still need another 100 straight wins to get to 3:1.

Can't get a better tip than that! Close this thread! Everything has been answered by this genius of a man! ... ... ...

Looks like you've got all there is to it. You can always stack teams if there's no auto balance.
-You cannot switch at the last min to the winning side and have it count a win. It gives you the win\loss for the side youve spent the most time on.
That blows... Here I thought getting the ratio would be easy... Oh well...

This is false, the game accounts for the side you were in when the round ended.
Awesome. My dreams of attaining this ribbon have been restored!
False. Just as if you lose, if your team wins after you left the server, you also get the win.
Indeed. I was questioning this aswell. You can verify this because when you leave a server and re-enter it, your score is still there; meaning if the stats stay, then your side must stay too, no?

I've been tracking my numbers for the last couple days. Looking at the BF2 trends graphs gave me the idea to make up a spreadsheet to calculate anything I wanted to know about my progress on this ribbon.

For those who are trying for this one I made a quick excel spreadsheet to track your progress. Just input the wins and losses every day at a regular time like right after your last game of the night. From there just drag the formulas down to calulate total games, win loss ratio, daily win ratio, wins needed for 3:1 win loss ratio, and daily win loss ratio. It also puts everything in to a graph on one of the other sheets so you can look at your trends and predict how far you are off. I left my info in there as an example to show what goes in the respective fields.

                  You can get it here:

BTW: I put that stuff in there about the way the wins and losses log that I got from the other post in one of the other forums.

i was on bf2s.com and they said i need 40 more to make 50 commander hours, dont want to be a commander now if im not gonna beast it. but it said i need a win loss ratio of 3 to 1 three times and i had already done it once. so if i need a w/l ratio of 3.1 three times then it might be in a day, or in a server with 3 or more games, i dont know but it was weird and hadent seen it discussed. look it up for yourselves and get back to me

1 of 3. Earning 2 should take you about 87 days.
                      Wins & Losses 871 / 589 (1.48)

It's going to take ages as even with alot of wins in a day it moves 0.0001% :)

in all mine time, i've seen only ONE guy having that ribbon

they should make it so teh K/D should be at least 1.00, and that you should have the 50h, plus 500wins

                          1) You should be high rank to be acertained of your position as commander.
                          2) You need to be low rank if you wan't to maintain a 3:1 Win/Loss without breaking your neck over it.
                          3) I'd say, it's a waste of time. Mainly because even if you have the leading role as a commander, not always will your fellow teammates listen to what you have to say.

what does that mean thoug, 1 of 3 what. one of three ratios doesn't make any sense, it has to be week by week or day by day or something of the sort, ya know what im sayin??? no

Those are wrong. you are given a win if the team you are on at the end wins - however, you must be on the winning team and have spawned before the round is over. If you quit before the round is over you get a win or loss depending on what your team won/lost.

Does anyone else have anything to add here that has helped them on their way to getting the fabled WC ribbon?
you are correct about keeping a log to know exactly where you are at. (I did) :)
                              - choose your servers carefully.
                              - turn off 'auto ready' on the server load screen so you dont auto-spawn.
                              - when you first join a game dont spawn! because more than likely the game will be already 1/2 through. wait and see how the teams look. if you quit without spawning, you dont receive a win or loss.
                              - dont play when your too tired.
                              - try not to quit if your behind: at least play until your +1 wins ahead for the day.
                              - adjust your player class so that you hit at least 15hrs in each class so you can get your veteran badges. then I recommend playing AT, sniper or assault from there on out while commanding. Later on you will need the actual playing time in other classes to get the repairs/resupply/first aid you need for the expert and harder medals.
                              - choose your servers carefully.

there are other tips on this I have posted in another thead.
