Man this gun rocks, yet I'm always reading how autosnipers suck and the M95 is needed for MEC and PLA. I just got a gold on Karkand by racking up the kills with it.

I think cops a lot of flak from the "one shot one kill" silly crane-camping snipers, who don't take a little bit of time to work the weapon out.

I really need to play with that gun more often.

you just need to know how to use them :p
svd is a cool weapon. but personaly, i dont like it. huge recoil. low damage..
id rather use the m24 :)

In real life SVD ammo is more powerfull than M24's. SVD shoots the same kaliber ammo as the PKM but with a SVD specific bullet. So, if in your experience the M24 causes more damage there is one more thing wrong with the game.

But in the game the SVD goes semi auto, so you can pull two shots off quickly and kill whoever you had your sights on. So it isn't exactly a P.O.S.

And also, the SVD wasn't designed as a sniper rifle, it was designed as a long range rifle that could accurately take out targets up to 500 meters. THe M24 on the other hand has better accuracy in real life because of the bolt action, it can accurately hit targets to about 1000 meters, in BF2 we can't even see 1000 meters due to dust, fog, or the map isn't even big enough, not to mention the scope ain't powerful enough. So they had to balance it out in game. And it is true, the M24 does more damage, another thing that EA sacrificced for balance. I'm ok with all of it.

one more thing i dont see why people whine about the MEC and PLA snipers, ok they arent that accurate nor strong but with 10 bullets and semi-auto c'mon at least 3 kills can be made.

I got 10 kills in a row with draganov in karkand yesterday with the draganov. All headshots too... Great gun :)

It's not inaccurate IMO... you're just trying to use it from too far away. I found our its bad to use sniper rifles at long range in bf2...

lol, so true. Yeah, you just need to know how to use them. While using the SVD you need to be in combat, that's what it's designed for. Not being up on a building, 500 meters or more away.

M24 is the only camp weapon, the Auto Snipers as well as M95 are best used in assault due to major bullet drop, which makes them hard to shoot at long ranges.
