Different FPS Problem

I have been gettin a problem with extremely low fps at times, dont know the exect figures but its not good. I can be playing with a very smooth framerate and then all of a sudden i will look a certain direction and it will go to around 5fps. I look the other way and its fine. Then after around 40 seconds its smooth again. Heres my specs:

Skt 754 Shuttle
AMD 64 3200+
1.5GB Corsair 3200 DDR
6800GT
Hitachi Deskstar

Im on high settings and 2x anti analysing, and have tried lower settings.

have u tried playing in the single player mode?? Notice any problem??
Maybe u lag in online because the server has high ping or the server is slow....

What are you temps like while playing?

Alt-tab out and check the temp monitor tab of the nvidia control panel.

i dont think its the connections problem because i get the same thing in css,i get a normal fps of 40-50 all the time but in some servers, i look at a bunch of ppl gun fighting, my fps drops to 10, than i look away it goes back to 40-50 . i got this problem ever since my pc crashed and restarted on its own. after formating its gone again, so maybe u should try that. my guess is when my pc shut down on its own, the firewall blocked partially the hl2 engine and thats wat caused the low fps.

I have tried it in single player and its fine, no probs whatsoever and plays beautifully.

Temperatures are CPU:47 GPU:62

while you are playing bf2, did you switch on many programme?? if so, Off it..
Make sure only bf2 runs.. Because bf2 take 80% of your ram... Maybe you got a slow comp and this slow comp problem might be the cause from a spyware, adware or a virus... try scan it...

defrag
disk cleanup
registry cleaning
