when you reinstall windoz, it will write over your registry, bf2 uses registry entries and needs to have them, doom 3, far cry etc dont. You need to reinstall the game.

if you had exported the registry keys, then you could import them again and it sould work, but no guarentees. It really only takes about 10 minutes to uninstall/reinstall (unless your old school and have cd's, then it may take a lifetime)
