    optimal graphics settings for gameplay

    What are the optimal graphics settings for gameplay for weak card? not neccessarily coolest looking, but the best for seeing people a long way off. Seeing through the mist and smoke. I have an ATI X300 PCIx 128MB.

    thx

        Lighting=low (lets ya see inside of buildings)

        These 2 setings give the biggest hit to your GPU turn them off.
        Dynamic lighting=off
        Shadows=off

        Everthing else set to medium & set view distance 100%

          ???
          LOL? This make the visibility better? I have set everything to high, except i disabled completely the shadows and dynamic lights (caused big bad bugs in v1.00 anyway...) - so should I consider the lighting option to low too?

          Is not that a cheating? :laugh:

            What I ment here was with my FX5900XT card if set Lighting to low I can see when entering a building with it any higher it so dark I cant see anything inside.

              I'm runnin an ATI 9600XT - some might consider that a weak card. I run everything on Medium with AA off...haven't tried much higher than that because I'm extremely impatient with that retexturing load thing

                  HEY! i have that Card... its not that weak... i play bf2 all on low... except AAx2, terrain and texture filtering medium, view distance 100%.... Off the shadow and light... with this: u will get a frame rate of 35-50... look at sky 70fps, when flying 55-65fps... See, i had this card, this card will still look good on bf2.... if you know of to tweak the setting.... So , Dont worry....

                    im playing with a geforce fx 5200 and im playing at about everything low except for medium textures and effects and 82% visibility. The best thing to do is optimize ur computer at either

                    or

                    or (for me)

                    the biggest help is changing ur image settings to high performance. I saw little change in looks but it really improved my gameplay

                      personally the 'VERY" last thing i'd ever change on the settings is the view distance, yhea it can speed stuff up, but its a disadvantage for you.... some may say not, but personally even if its only changed to say 95% others can still see that 5% farther than u, which isn't that much i guess but still...

                      tho mind you i'm one of those guys who can't stand playing games with less than high settings lmao hate not being able to play a game in all its glory so i run everythin on 1280x1024x75Hz with max'd settings lmao
