Ok, lets first get started with a lil disclaimer, this is my first post, i have read all other posts on the topic, i have read the rules, and i have actually played BF2 for more than 2 seconds.
Now to the juicy bits:
I'm a sniper. I've unlocked the m95, found it lackluster, but kept with it. Now, i'm a pro, getting shots off with confirmed hits about 75% of the time, and confirmed 1 hit kills about 15% of the time. Almost all of my hits end with a kill, tactic being shoot, whip out pistol, and spray em to knock out that pesky lil sliver of health they have.
So your prolly wondering, ok why is he bragging or doing whatever i'm doing. Well, i had an idea when i was watching a history channel episode on sniping.
Interchangable Parts.
I'm just saying that every 500 to 1000 points, you could "unlock" or "purchase" a weapon upgrade. Since i'm a sniper, here are some quickies:
Bipod
Scope
Barrel
Clip
Rangefinder
So, i get my unlock, i play around, and i'd like a lil better accuracy, a lil better "wait for gun to steady time". I buy a bipod for my gun. Well, here is what it does:
Nothing when Crouched or Standing
When Prone:
Takes an additional bit of time for it to be deployed
Steadys the rifle so that it takes
A. Less time to get a tight grouping on shots
B. Less Recoil
C. Slower to pan/ tilt the rifle
So it improves accuracy, but hurts a snipers mobility when deployed. A trade off.
I start playing around with that, but i want to be able to see a bit better, I buy a new scope!
What does it do?
Improves Magnification
BUT
Requires range to be manually punched in for accurate shooting
SO it improves your accuracy a good bit, but only when the correct range of a target is plugged in. That takes effort and time. A trade off.
How bout a rangefinder? I purchase this, a very high power scope with a laser range finder on it. Maybe have the ability to "paint" targets for guided missles and such. But it allows for the scope to be used much more effectivly. A trade off in time, but a trade up in the usability of the new scope.
I'm not going to go into detail about the other attachments that could be used, but seriously, i think this could allow folks to "specialize" there online profile much more. It would also reward people for putting time and effort to learn there equipment. Over several thousand points, a sniper could become a truly feared advisary, but a very specialized one. A sniper who would be more into sniping squad leaders and taking off the command on units, a tactical sniper who's job would be more disruption than killing. These "specialized" upgrades would add a great bit of depth to the game in addition.
So your thoughts would be nice. What i'm looking for is:
Feasability
Usability
Enjoyability
and your thoughts and comments and whatnot
I am seriously putting this out for thought, and would like some feedback from some people who care.
For respect of me, please dont put out lil 1 sentence posts, i took the time to write this up, so consider that before you flame and scream and all of that. Constructive Criticism is ALWAYS appreciated.
Thanks Alot
