Should I host custom maps?

Howdy all.

I'm new to Total BF2 and to the BF2 community in general but this looks like a great place to stay up-to-date on BF2. I am currently running an unranked 16 player server that really doesn't see much traffic so I was thinking of hosting some custom maps. The question is, are these maps getting any traffic, i.e., should I bother? Or are there enough servers running custom maps?

I'd like to put my server to more productive use, so let me know if you think it's worth it and I'll download the maps and get them up and running. Thanks for any thoughts/advice.

course its a good thing. the more the merrier.
and you would be helping the community aswell.
theres never enough places to play. :)

you might want to put in the server name something to tell others that it is a custom map server (thats in case you run normal maps as well, then they know.) if you run totally custom maps then they can see all the time because its a different colour if you haven't got the map.

Due to the way custom maps are at the moment.. you wont get that many players. Most servers with custom maps usually have 0 players, 99% of people currently prefer to play ranked servers (even me most of the time and I make custom maps) so not many people play unranked. Even less would play custom maps due to the way you have to go around and get them as there is no ingame function.

The only way I can see you getting to the full 16 players with custom maps is if you have a clan who play there often.
