Re: The M95 is a total piece of sh1t

I've never fired a 50cal, but I do have 2 AR-15's and 1 M-14. The only area I'm really dissapointed in is ballance. When I'm up on a hill with a 22 ping, and I can't take a guy out after 4 shots, then he turns full auto with his M-16 and drops me, there is something wrong (all at about 500 yards). He was in the wide open, I was prone, and in the grass on a hill looking down. I've taken out many, many people with the 50cal, and it appears to work well on some maps but yet on others it totally sucks. I think it desirves some fixing in a future patch, which corrects the hitbox issues. In its present form, it is not ballanced very well. Accuracy, and a more open hitbox would make things better.

yeah sniping with the m-16 or chipping away with the spec-force smg is almost better than traditional sniping...seems like a lot of time trying to get in a good snipe position and some of the big maps there are just too many flags changing hands.

I can't suggest 1 shot kills but maybe a little better accuracy with them would be cool /me shrugs.

I think you have th same issue that i have with the PKM...

Being prone in this game is BAD, really bad. The riffles are almost always straight on target ont their first bullets, and apparently you get an inflated head when prone in bf2... countless times i have started to fire on some soldier from an excellent position, and he then turns and headshot me with his first bullet. Seriously i would love to get a look at the hitboxes...

For all targets less than 200 meters, hit em iwith the M95, if it doesn't hit the head and only hits the body, doesn't matter, take out your silenced pistol and take em out, they won't know what hit em. And they might be embarressed in front of all the other people because they died to a pistol, a simple combo that works. Plus, it works regradless of body armor, 1 shot to a lets say an assault does 95 damage because of the M95s amazing ability to ignore body armor, than a pistol does 13.33 damage because body armor takes out 1/3 of the damage taken from all weapons besides the M95. So bang, they die, real easy, plus the pistol is real accurae in this game.

Re: The M95 is a total piece of sh1t

"Sniper rifles are radically different from standard hunting rifles. They are designed and manufactured for use in killing human beings at more than five times the range hunters shoot deer, and to destroy "materiel" targets such as light armored vehicles and aircraft at distances of more than a mile. The three characteristics and capabilities that combine to signify a sniper rifle are detailed below.
Accuracy: The sniper's goal is to hit his human target with a precision summed up in the phrase, "One shot, one kill." Police snipers need the capability to hit the junction of the brain and brain stem at extended distances. Hitting and destroying this point at the back of the human head with a single bullet causes the person to instantly and completely collapse without reflex. Snipers call this spot "the apricot."
Range: Sniper rifles can be used with great accuracy against targets at much longer distances than ordinary hunting or sporting rifles. The longest confirmed sniper kill of the Gulf War was reported to have been made by a Barrett Model 82A1 sniper rifle at a range of 1,800 meters—nearly 2,000 yards, or almost 10 times a deer hunter's maximum effective range. Numerous engagements with large, 50 caliber guns during the war took place at 1,600 meters (about 1,750 yards). From the West Front of the U.S. Capitol, this range would allow accurate firing as far as the Smithsonian Metro station on the Mall.
Power: The most destructive rounds fired by sniper rifles are 50 caliber—the largest round of ammunition generally available to civilians. The extraordinary power and range of the 50 caliber "heavies" create a whole new order of threat that is a source of concern for domestic law enforcement authorities. These rounds can knock down aircraft—including helicopters—and punch through concrete block, armored vehicles, and other standard materials relied upon for executive protection.

                  OKAY! NOW, having said that...

WAKE UP PEOPLE, either the .50 cal should perform as advertised or it shouldn't be in the game at all. It's a simple concept, if the makers of the game never wanted any weapons capable of one-shot-one-kill shots, then they shouldn't have introduced this weapon into the armory to begin with. Since they did, it should perform as advertised, instead of seriously insulting the people who know its RL capabilities.

Re: The M95 is a total piece of sh1t

Yeah, it especially won't pierce body armor if it hits one of those many ceramic blocks you put on that armored vest, i would like to see 50 cal bullet penetrate one of those ceramic blocks.
ive seen a .50cal sniper rifle punch through a 7" steel safe and come through the back, so some ceramic blocks is not gonna stop a round from the m95. u might as well expect that body armor to shield u from a mack truck.

but realism has very little ground here when it comes to game balancing, and fundamentally bf2 is just a game. 1 hit kills from any rifle would be too overpowered.

on a different note, yes the deviation standard on the m95 is greater than that of the m24. however that doesnt explain why sometimes 3-4 would-be-dead-on head shots would miss consecutively. anyone tried just aiming a mm or two above the target's head? ive experimented with this have noticed a reasonable decrease in those "wtf happened to my headshot" moments.

With the M95 for long distance shots, you have to actually aim above your target for the bullet to hit. Try this with a friend on a large map with little fog, such as Kubra dam, and try hitting eachother from over 700 meters. At that range the m24 has a slight bullet drop, but with the m95, you must be using the first marker line below the crosshair.

Factors that increase bullet drop are: Being bellow your target forces you to aim higher to adjust as the bullet drop is increased. Being above your target reduces the bullet drop, so adjust accordingly.

And if anyone still has doubt's about this, get a friend and create your own server on 64 kubra dam, and have eachother engage eachother at extreme distance, and try to hit him by aim directly at him. You should notice that it is impossible, and that your bullets are landing quite a ways infront of him. Then try slowly moving your crosshair above him, and firing, until you get a hit. You should notice the crosshair when you fired was quite a ways above him as you fired. Try the same with the m24 and you should notice there is minimal drop. You should also notice that nomatter how far you space yourselves apart, that with the correct judgement of the bullet drop, the M95 is perfectly accurate, and will always be capable of hitting any target at any range, right up to the very max of your field of view.

So in conclusion, the M95 has an effective range of well beyond your max field of view, but has increased bullet drop compared to the m24 creating the illusion of it being more inaccurate. Dont beleive me, try for yourself.
I agree with you, I have about 800 kills with sniper rifles, and just recently begin to believe bullet drop exists. Before then I always thought it is just random accuracy.

Erm without being too insulting you realise this is a game right? "instead of seriously insulting the people who know its RL capabilities" WTF If including a weapon that dosent have realisitic effects is insulting, i can't even imagine how you must think "killing" someone in an online game "insults" relatives of gunshot crime victims or the families of soldiers killed in action.

None of the weapons are realistic, you can be shot and injured by any weapon and it dosen't affect your mobilty, stamina or anything else. Now as much as i dislike guns IRL and therefore can't claim to be an expert, but i'm pretty sure having a grenade blow up 3 feet from you while prone is going affect you slightly more then losing 5 bars of "health" that can be instantly "fixed" by a magical bag with a red cross on it being throw at your feet

The weapons included to signify the different sides and country's in the game, nothing more. The average joe (that dosent belong to the NRA) has no interest in detailed specifics and technical information relating to firearms, and indeed how that correlates to a VIDEO GAME

                          Realistic game scenerio:

                          1) Buy game
                          2) Install game
                          3) Start game
                          4) Die
                          5) <your game is now useless, it has been unistalled and the disk buried>

                          6) Repeat from step 1.......

Regarding the thread in general, i like the USA sniper and the upgrade, any more powerful or accurate and there would be 25 snipers per side considering the huge size and great sniping positions of the 64 player maps.

                              A headshot with M95 is a kill.

Read Zagashi's post, you would know its not the rifles, its people who use them.

That is fine, people who don't believe sniper rifles are accurate can keep on believing it. We true sniping believers can keep on enjoying ourselves~ =)

Well heres my analyze of the m95, it was my first unlock and like most of you I hated it, its accuracy towards long distances was sucky. But i started to use it last night as infantry rather then just playing a hide and go seek sniper. It it performed really well. We all know that the m24 is for really long shots and the m95 can only medium range shots. This gun is extremely powerful. I just started running around and the nearest guy i saw i just prone quick and one shot it was over. Keep your distances but dont be to distance. And this weapon will serve you well.
