Can ranked servers run new maps?

Simple answer: No

Reason: Custom maps could provide one team with lots of advantages over the other and therefore be unfair, it would end up being another form of stat-padding.

Rumor, and I mean very a very LOOSE rumor, has it that EA is making a new map for ranked servers in the v1.03 patch.

If you search the forums you'll see a post about them testing several maps on their test servers. Its unclear if they just renamed existing maps or are actually testing a new map for the v1.03. Right now its just speculation.

If I was EA/DICE I would release at least 1 new map for ranked servers each patch...or perhaps monthly.

Or even monthly competitions of some sort to get custom maps made by fans in an offical patch. This saves time and effort on EA behalf as well and will drive the map makers to a bigger purpose.
I only know of 1 game EA has done this kinda thing for, AirCraftKiller made a map and EA emailed him afterwards asking if they could put it in their patch. Would be nice seeing this kind of thing, unlikly though. More possible of them to release one map with the patch then none after that

I agree with Crimson. EA needs to step down abit and get the Lowly mappers names out there. Do a map competition. Heck WHY not have the TotalBF2 Map Team hold a Map Competition. Heck OK ill stop there.

they need 2 do something though because there r alot of ppl out there like me who dont play on unranked servers:p

Since when does EA read their emails.

Also didn't you guys get the questionaire from EA a couple weeks ago? the questionaire was basically a fishing expedition on their part to see what the market is for new maps...questions like "would you be willing to pay $4.95 to download a new ranked map for BF2?" i answerred NO and the next question was "2.95?"

be ready to fork out cash for new ranked maps!
