Can you force Triple buffering in bf2? like in farcry?

Can this be done? Forcing triple buffering in bf2 like i did in farcry? Any options I could change to enable this?

With out vsync I get major tearing issues.. with it on I get 42-30 fps and up (very laggy) With it off I get 60-85 game never lags and runs great but the tearing I just cant stand..

So its very low settings or I have to deal with tearing right now

There has got to be a way to force this option.. if anyone knows please post

Post any info you have... its really been bugging me.. I swicth my graphic settings from lhigh to low all the time and change vsync on and off more then I play the game

I have a ati x800xt if it matters

Triple Buffering is only in OpenGL games, not Direct3D if I'm not mistaken.

      not at all

opengl the driver supports everything while in d3d its the other way around.. it still can be done from what I have heard

I run every other game i own that is d3d just had to find the info on how to do it and what files to change around

V-sync sycronizes the frames that coems from the gfx card with the Hz of monitor, e.g. if 60Hz you will be capped at 60 FPS, and 100Hz you will be limited to 100 FPS.
Contiuing with 100Hz as example, if game is above 100 FPS it will be at 100 FPS because of v-sync, but if it is below it will try to fit it in with 100Hz and this is done by lowering it to 50 FPS and if it is lower than 50 then it will divide again.

With triple buffering it will not half the FPS it will first try to fit it in with 3/4 of Hz, here 75FPS.

Check in your graphics card's Control Center or in the Control Panel for it. They may have a way you can force it via a game profile.

Yea it isn't supported natively in D3D, however I think you can force it for D3D in ATI Tray Tools, some games might crash if it is enabled.

Gunney is correct that Triple Buffering is ONLY for OGL and is an API Specific function it would have no affect on D3D

the new NVIDIA drivers do have a D3D triple buffer option. But as I just read BF2 is one of the few games where there is no FPS gain when vsync and 3buff enabled.

I could look for the exact data but im too lazy for that

Well BF2 caps the FPS at 100 by default so whether V-synch is on or off its not gonna show over 100FPS anway.

dont wont 100 fps.. i wont my 60-70 fps not the 42-20 fps that vsync gives me

Its not only for opengl. If it is then how am I playing every game i own that is d3d with triple buffering enabled? I found some asnwers today about it but if anyone has anything else to add post

The ATI Tray Tools should have a game profiler in which you can enable this option. But as was stated before, I dont' believe there will be much of a gain, if any at all.

                          lol is 42 to 70fps a gain? :p

used the ati tray tools and it worked but this isnt the way i wonted to do this

I do have one issue with it.. After i load another map my fps drops from 75 to 55 in the same area.. dont know why this is happening

probably something i need to tweak if anyone got an idea post
