Disconnecting and laggy gameplay, any ideas?

    Hey

I've been playing for a month or two and the game has been fine. I upgraded to 2 Gigs of RAM which helped the loading alot and made the game alot nicer to play. I have low-med settings no AA. I'm using 9800 pro, 2gig RAM and a mobile AMD Athlon 1800+ processor. As i said everythings been fine but in the last few days everythings been really laggy and I've been getting disconnected loads. I always defrag before I play, and I just reinstalled the game, oh I always use cClearner and defrag aswell. I clear the shader cache and logo cache also.

I just installed the 'fraps' program and I get 30-40 FPS when standing still, and in action anywhere between 8-20?

I'm thinking its because of my HD getting fragmented or something, with the programs I use/used. I've installed a demo for Evil genius, which i later uninstalled, and I've put a game or two on which I've uninstalled.

Is anyone else having any problems or does anyone know anything what can get my game running abit smoother again? Many thanks, hugs and kisses xxx

I think your processor is too slow.

Worked fine before though. I know its abit crap isnt it lol. Its below the mini spec, but still, it worked fine on mostly med with no lag for weeks on end.

      (processor that is)

your cpu is fine, BF2 doesnt need that much cpu power anyway

I had a similar problem.. I overclocked my graphic card but didnt increase the memory clock and I had horrible framerate during battles.. then I increased the clock of the memory too .. and voila!!! game runs smooth
also I dont use ati try tool anymore, it caused a 100% cpu usage on my pc.. so I´m using atitool now

oh cool, I downloaded that program ATITool version 0.24. Heres the link http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/

If anyone could give me any advice for how to use it i'd be very gratefull. Could overclocking damage my card in anyway?

I see you never overclocked your graphic card.. better dont start now! yes you can damage your card

if you wanna do it anyway do this

atitool is pretty easy.. use "find max mem" and it finds the perfect safe value for the memory
                    then use "find max core"
after that save the values to a profile and be sure the memory clock is higher than the core clock
also under settings-misc, check that "change video card pci latency to" is set on 32 (if not, then set it (increases performance!)

Oh okay cool, I'll find them now. It takes a while right because its taking ages lol.

Why does the core have to be bigger than the memory?

I just did the max memory and max core thing, does it tell you when its finished or does it just stop, mine seems to have just stopped :-\ Is core 395.47 Core and 392.29 Memory good?
