    EA CrackDown

Since all Clans, Communities and the Regular Joe Dirts that have servers that have "rules" are concidered "Modded" we should no longer be able to play Online, So to all the Online troops I have played with I would like to say it was a Honor and that I hope a better game comes out from another company that Really cares about the Kids and the Workng Class that pays for can do what they want and enjoy the game. looks like back to Single Player games guys... Enjoy, have fun and dont worry about stats!

I assume your talking about the crack down on servers such as pistol and knife servers. If you are then i think EA are doing a damn fine job with stamping them out.

And like your last sentence would lead me to believe, your not fussed about stats, then why are you bothered about losing your beloved pistol/knife servers coz you can just create unranked servers. Which will enable you to pistol and knife to your hearts content.

If i missed your point completey and your leaving online play for some other reason then, sorry to hear it and take care.

I still think that e-mail was forged. I can easily send you a nice professional e-mail from gbush@whitehouse.gov if I wanted to. E-mail isn't nearly as secure as it used to be.

I think that kinfe/pistol servers are totally fine. They are no different from a bunch of players in a game saying "Hey, how about we all use the same weapons?", except for the fact that the rule that's understood is put as part of the server topic, and people enforce that rule.

Stat padding (Knife, Revive, Repeat) is another thing, but you don't see servers titled "STAT PAD HERE NOW!".

I have no idea weather the email is real or not. The point is that they are enforceing those rules on a ranked server. For those people that dont care about stats this should be a non issue. The only differences in the two types of servers are the acumulation of points and a higher cost. Enforce any rules you want on your unranked server but dont bitch when EA tells you what you can and cant do on thier ranked (or tournement) servers. Of course for the record I think the way ea did ranks and standing is jacked but thats for another thread.

Ever gone in a pistol/knife server? Ever look at the scoreboard in it? The server exists for the soul purpose of stat padding. I admit it is fun to play with just pistols, but if it's that fun you can do it on non-ranked servers.

I think you people all care too damn much about stats... Who gives a damn? I mean... really... If they want to knife/pistol the hell out of each other, let them.. Who gives a damn if it's ranked or not? Worst case scenario: They get a couple unlocks from their extra points... So? The unlocks aren't going to give them any sort of game-breaking advantage... Stop worrying so damn much about other people and enjoy the freaking game.. It's supposed to be FUN, people!

I Agree, a Knife and Pistol Server is no diff, then a normal Server. I was in a Server once where almost everyone was a Medic. My point is this. No matter if it is Knifes, a Pistol or a G3 in a pistol server or a normal server you do the same thing, Kill. I can get more kills with my PKM then some of these guys do with Knifes and Pistols. and yes I have used both in a normal server so does that make me a stat paddler?? No.. There is no differance if guys are all using Pistols, M203s or a M16a1. Heck it is harder to kill with a pistol and a knife then it is with a M-60. Its working on Skills. Some peeps take advantage of it, but you cant stop them from doing it, I mean a large clan can do the same, get a ranked server have 15 guys join and just go and kill and revive eachother, As the poster above said Enjoy the game, who cares about the stats, its not like you are going to become a millionair when you hit SgtMaj. Right?

If the email was a fake then they are not enforcing those rules.

Regaurdles of the validity of the email, the server admins enforce knife/pistol rules. I think you missed my point. Or maybe I missed yours. Oh well

EA probably should crack down on rated pistol/knife servers, since it IS very easy to get a lot of points and a high K/D ratio on them.

I played on a Knives/Pistol server once for a couple rounds, it was an extremely fun way to play the game. Claims of stat padding are insane - I've put up more points being Support flying a heli full of people than you ever will playing on a knives/pistol server. With as many ways as there are to point farm in this game if you're so inclined, you'd be amazed at how hard you need to work to get kills in a Pistols/Knives server.

I've got no issue with them, and I can completely understand wanting to play it ranked. I don't play unranked servers because I know I'll always have a positive or zero score at the end of a round, no matter where I'm playing, so I'd like for that to count against something in the end.

The reason people have problems with the KNIFE/PISTOL only servers is because you get rediculous scores, and you really never get a death. You generally get revived everytime you get 'critically wounded' and you finish wiht a score of 60-2... plus all hte points that you get for YORU revives, and tossing medi-packs...

People think it's stats padding, but really, if you played on a server that was MEDIC ONLY... you would have the same types of things... people reviving all over... people tossing med packs... people RACKING up kills...

But there shouldn't be any medic only servers for that reason.

I guess the point is that enforcing restrictions that were not part of the original release is contrary to the spirit of the game. All in all, at the end of the day, when the cows come home, when all else is said and done it makes no difference to the out come of a particular game. The point, as many have noted, is to enjoy the game as it is and play within the design parameters. Imagine if jockeys decide to cut across the oval of the race track in order to win a race.

Play the game in accordance to the rules. In a competitive setting the temptation to cheat can be irresistible and for the most part forgivable. When you're found out to be a cheat, either stop cheating or suffer the consequences.
