    VOIP (dumb question?)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but as I only have an hour's play under my belt I have a LOT of dumb questions

Anyway - I have a headset. I know it works with Skype, so figure it'd work with BF2 as well. In fact, I can run the microphone tests, etc, fine and set my options so that VOIP is enabled.

However, how do I tell if the server I'm connecting to is VOIP enabled? Is it the small headset icon that is beside it in the server list? I've connected to these servers before, but when I've gone into my options, VOIP has been disabled.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Again, sorry if this is a dumb q, but I'm just baffled.

    most of them are...

join a squad and press`b` to speak... wait for a response.

not everyone has VOIP, so keep going into new squads until you find some that speaks back.

I've tried, but it seems people either ignore me or don't use VOIP :) I'll keep trying.

No go. I set it to enabled before I join a game, but it doesn't work once I'm playing.

Other squad members have a speaker icon next to their name (on the squad page) but not me?

Configure it using the following program:

          "C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/bf2voicesetup.exe"

Thanks, I'll give that a go again.

I had it working for a split second last night; I said hello to my squad (pressing 'B'), a green speaker icon flashed on the screen briefly, then turned red, and that was it - no more VOIP for me.

                Re: VOIP (dumb question?)

Isn't that what the little speaker icon next to each server in the server list represents?

Also, should I be able to hear other VOIP players even if I have it disabled?

It's probably due to the fact that most players don't use the VOiP. Your settings may be right but the players just doesn't use it. Try doing it w/ a friend or someone that you know is using VOiP. Remember, you must be in a squad and press "B" to talk to squad members. "V" to talk to commander.

                    1. Correct, look for the speaker icon (Remember, they may not be using it.).
                    2. You will be able to hear other VOiP pllayers as long as your in the same squad. If you are lone wolf, it will not work.
