I agree. The only time the commander should be in the open acting as a foot soilder is if the enemy has taken control of your main base and destroyed all assests and cant do anything but fight on as a foot soilder. Normally i try to find some cover inside to command so im not as easilly spotted by enemy infranty or arty.

With no enemy commander thers no arty,UAV,scancs, or supply drops but it does make more sense to bomb larger numbers which is'nt always easy to do because where there is a large number of enemies there is more then likely a large number of friendlies and no one wants to wrack up team kills.

I may be a newbie here, but I am in the real military. With my experience to help this topic, consider this:

Every enemy commander will be different, and your stragedy should change based on your actions and the feedback offered by your squad leaders. Some enemy commanders may focus on finding and killing you, but that's less time they spend leading their troops.

See what he does and adjust your tactics. Try to hide in an arty safe area if the map has one. Maybe as someone to "guard" you so you can concentrate on your commander map

Anyway- You can't say one way works better than all others all of the time.

No, of course not. Not for all commanders.

Last night, in Sharqui, I noticed that, as a commander, the other commander kept artying me. So, using the map, as soon as I heard arty fire, I moved to a seperate location, and voila, arty on where I was. Took about 10 rounds of arty for the enemy commander to give up.

                Agree? Disagree?
You could also look him up on the satellite scan and kill him, that would save your team even more kills

I appreciate when my teammates allow me to be commander even though I am currently only a Lance Corporal. How else am I going to get experice?

Funny thing is- rank on BF2 are USMC but ranks on this Forum are US Army ranks. Hrmm

I wouldnt waste a UAV and Arty on one person when my team could use them in a manner which ultimately could win the round.

Re: For Commanders: DON'T hide from arty!

As a Commander, I always have my ARTY going on something...if it's sitting there...it's wasting...so, I do a scan to get an idea where the thickest concentration of enemies are (the key is to remember where the scan located enemies)...then I put the UAV there and zoom...if friendlies are in the area...then I don't launch... sometimes...there are friendlies engaged in multiple areas and I don't have a clear shot at any group of baddies...in this case...I would target the enemy Commander...just like I would use an ARTY strike to take out a single sniper or a single soldier trying to cap a flag...

My recommendation...don't limit your ARTY for maximum point value...utilize it for maximum team value...

Re: For Commanders: DON'T hide from arty!

I agree with this. Even though I sometimes feel that the artillary is "wasting" if it is sitting idle, I don't want to use it just because it is available.

Encourage your squad leaders to call in artillary stikes as needed. Also, you can use the UAV as a "60-second warning" to clear the area prior to an arty strike (unless they need UAVs elsewhere).

If you have squad leaders that don't offer you feedback or are too busy to interact with you, then use the arty any way you want.

Disagree. Hiding in plain sight also makes you easy meat for helicopter assault teams and roving snipers. That's awful nice of you to volunteer for the occasional arty barrage, but you are more valuable to your team alive.

If you are US in a map with a carrier you should hide on top of it. then snipers is to far from you etc.

If you are a commander and do not want to be killed, then go find a most concealed part of the map, and be a SPECIAL OP. This way, he cannot see you from the UAV or SCAN, and you are safe. Since you are the commander, you won't move at all, so there is absolutely no way that he can spot you. I find that the best map to be hidden as a commander and never be found by anyone is the Songhua Stalemate map. Dragon Valley also has some nice spots. With so many trees and tall grass, find a nice little spot and start your arty on the enemy! Do not attempt this in Karkland though... There is barely any cover and the enemy is swarming everywhere. In Karkland, just stay at home base and place arty everywhere. TK is inevitable here.
