This place lulls me into a false sense of security

    Hi:)

I come in here on a daily basis and enjoy reading other peoples stories, opinions and suchlike on how the game should be played. I always leave thinking 'yeah i wanna play BF that way with these folks and dive intop a game keen to try out/ take part in all these great plans/tactics/teamplay i read about in here. However......this place apparently is in the minority when it comes to playing the game  Dunno if you agree but i would say that on average about 80-90 % of players on the servers are there for personal gain and wouldn;'t know teamplay if it bit them on ther ass, ''it's me against them all (quake/doom style) and screw the rest of my team''. The amount of times i join a game where:- the support guys don't give out ammo, your team is made up of 14 asualt/spec ops players, players leave teammates behind when taking vehicles, defense is a bad word, they hide from enemies allowing team mates to get shot in the back, don't spot enemies, command from a chopper, go for points over teamplay e.g. hanging back to cover your team whilst they capture a flag..etc etc etc...the list goes on and on...and you have heard it all before, many times

So where do all of you hide and is it possible to find like minded folks to play the way that the game was designed for or are you all just figments of my imagination . I am getting very close to uninstalling the game as i have played it for aaaaagaggeeees but now end up getting so frustrated on regular occasions trying to get into the teamplay type thing that i turn it off. Some of you may suggest clans, and admittedly i have only just started playing games online (bf2 is my first go) so i know little or nothuing about them but some of the clan folks that appear within the games should be called the 'bunny hopping/nade launching/sitting in the blackhawk clan'. I myself are far from being even a half decent player but i would really like to play with folks that watch your back/ compliment your choice of kit/ couldn't give a jot whether they finish top scorers etc.

Many of you have been playing online for ages it would seem, is this a common problem/feature of online gaming? Does it get any better? should i just say shove it and play against the bots or get out my connect 4?

Thanks for taking the time to read this...if you are still there that is

Re: This place lulls me into a false sense of security

Online communities (like forums) are always populated by a small subset of the overall userbase - this is true for any game.

Often this same group is also the most passionate, as they take extra time to discuss the game outside of the game.

I play on the WNx, IMA, or Tactical Gamer servers. Avoid the big 64-man servers, as IMO they are magnets for idiots and point whores. Keep trying different servers. I like team play, and great squad work. look me up anytime on x-fire (hzcheinz), and follow me to some of the above-mentioned great servers.

there are plenty of good team-oriented servers out there, just gotta know where to look. feel free to PM me for some further details. I have already hooked up with a coupla guys from here and have hit a few servers for some team work. also, my clan only goes to good team-oriented servers.

      hang in there!

Re: This place lulls me into a false sense of security

forums are mostly crowded with hardcore gamers, 95% of the BF2 players are just players who just game when they have some spare time or when they are bored.

On some servers it is a problem, but I find it on most servers you will find some good players, even if they are on another squad or even lonewolfs, you just stick to them and you will have fun.

I understand how you feel...and personally...I'd love to play with most of the people around here. Joining a clan that practices a few times a week...ect...is tough if you have "other commitments" (aka: life (no offense)).

If you're playing "official servers" it's all about trial and error. Once on a server, create a team called VOIP or Teamwork. Invite a bunch of players and hope for the best. Use your mic even if others don't have their mic...and eventually you'll get someone to talk or cover you. Other than that....stop whining.hehe.

I well i really want to get some good Teamwork gameplay in.. But i find it hard since most people dont join squads and dont really know the meaning of "teamwork"

I think the mian problem is that many of the people have come from CounterStrike, and they arent used to Proper Teamwork

yep, exactly. if you get x-fire, and put even 4 or 5 of us in there that respond to your thread (understanding your position), you'll be gaming in great places before you know it.

Not everyone out there is selfish. once me and my squad were stuck in a bunker with 14 enemys charging us. three of our guys were dead and the rest of us injured. We had no medics. then another soldier (medic) sprinted through the crowd of enemies almost dieing in the process to help us out. thanx to him we pushed back the enemy and one the round.

I think that this game would have been great for teamwork if it did not have all these stupid stats. I used to play Ghost Recon and even though i came out on top almost all the time in that game i could have cared less and just helped out my teammates because that was more fun than getting more points which would not save up anyway. Now i find myself trying to find new ways to get more kills. When i'm not playing with my clan i find myself flying a lot just to get 60+ points /game. But when i do so i always make a squad called Jets or Air Support and if i have a smart commander then he tells me which bases to bomb before he sends in the infantry or which base is being caped and where i should rain bullets but usually i just fly alone. When i do play with my clan we are more cooperative but we are still spread out throughout the map and just use TeamSpeak to point out where the enemy is and ask for air support if needed. I have not played in a real close squad in a long time.

100% correct. Consider how many registered BF2 accounts there are at the moment. If i'm not mistaken, the number is up over 700,000. The number of users registered in this forum is currently 15,110. Doing the math means that only about 1 out of every 50 players has visited here...

Put differently, you could play 2 rounds on a 32 person server (with regular churn of players coming and going) and probably cross paths with only one other person from these forums, if any.

no offence taken:) ill health etc allows me to play more then most, not much of a silver lining but hey you gotta start somewherethta's my excuse and i'm sticking to it )

Thanks for all the responses thus far . The x-fire (i do have an account) thing is something i considered but as we all come from different places finding a suitable low ping server etc can be tricky and guys that tend to play together are normally of a high standard/ability. The point about the forum is a very fair one, for someone to be interested enough to come into a forum well they have to be fairly commited (not in a white padded room way...well most of you ) and only therfore represents small percentage of the gaming population. Most servers i end up on are full of angry young kids who like to make comments about your mother if they get tk'd or suchlike :cussing:.

(ok apparentkly i lied about the whining being over...srry :shakehead )
