Well guys, I don't know about you, but for me, the ranking system is TEMPORARY! As soon as Chirstmas time comes around, I will NOT be playing on any ranked servers. Around Christmas many mods plan to unveil

I'll be playing Desert Conflict, Forgotton Hope 2, and all the others you see on the front page.


Do you guys think ranking will survive?

I don't think you will see mod's by that time tbh. Especially bug free full functioning decent one's.

Mod's take a long time.

I highly doubt that. BF2 is fun and a lot of people have that MMO urge to fill , and this does it for some of them. This is why making the higher level awards take so long is a good idea. It will give people something to play and strive for.

But the same weapons, vehichles, that sort of thing, will all be old and overplayed.

People are still playing Quake 3 all the time. . .I garauntee that at Christmas time there will still be people playing the ranked servers all the time. . . probably in number similar or more than now.

yeah I still play q3ctf regularly...and Q4 is supposed to come out this xmas so that is what will pull me away, heh.

I think that the new mods will be ranked due to the servers themselves being ranked not the map. So if a server is rented and is ranked and playing a new mod then the game will be ranked. So no this will not be the end to ranking.

ranking will be there for some time, look at americas army, the curent rank system is there for almost 4 years now and still there are tons of guys playing on it.

Mods are popular, but the biggest part of the gamers play the original

When was the last time that CS had new weapons? It's not the weapons, it is the game play. All they need to keep the numbers up is to allow mappers to submit maps for ranked server approval. new maps will keep it going for a long time.

Don't forget there will be the expansions which will have ranked servers too. From what I hear points, medals e.t.c. earned in the special forces expansion will be added to the points from the original BF2.

I don't know how they will do it personally they will have to change BFHQ to include all the new armies. Or they might have a seperate tab with info from SF which will be incorporated with total points. Will have to wait and see on that
